Part time adult reference work in a public library.  Tasks include working at the adult reference desk, answering a variety of reference questions, reader's advisory, opening and closing the library, assisting patrons with computer issues, and bringing new technology into the library.           

  • Member of Web Committee in charge of redesigning Library's Web site.
  • Led in house training session on MP3 Players, Audio Books, eBooks, and My Media Mall.
  • Updated content on Library's web page as needed.

Practicum/Internship

The Ryerson & Burnham Libraries: The Art Institute Of Chicago

Practicum/Internship, for graduate school credit hours, performed with the Systems Librarian and in the Archives Department.  Tasks included helping upgrade and maintain library computers, metadata entry on a digital library project, and creating indexes of archival materials.

  • Entered and uploaded content and metadata in a ContentDM Digital Library project.
  • Integrated a network storage device for CD-ROMs and developed browsing interface.
  • Created an index for digitized Art Institute meeting minutes for the Archives Department.

IT Sales for an Internet networking company of about 25 employees.  Tasks included new client generation, cold calls, existing client management, network consulting, quote and proposal writing, customer service, project management, and vendor coordination.

  • Coordinated all stages of projects from the sales process, to the installation and wrap up.
  • Brought company new clients and built Apple oriented consulting.
  • Translated complex technical terms so customers could make informed decisions.

University of Chicago: Campus Computer Stores

Started as inventory clerk and worked up to Manager of Distribution of computer store warehouse and distribution facility for a major university.  Tasks included inventory reconciliation, PO generation, vendor management, database upkeep and organization, part number generation, and all product deliveries.

  • Managed a small staff of six employees.
  • Negotiated prices on campus wide computer software licenses.
  • Procured 15 million dollars annually in hardware and software.

Assistant Manager and Buyer for a small independent record store.  Tasks included evaluating and purchasing used records and CDs, buying new product, opening and closing store, balancing registers, basic bookkeeping, customer service, store security, and marketing.

  • Transitioned store from vinyl to CD sales.
