Carrier Development Coordinator

Established and developed carrier development team effort in cost reduction.  Conducted targeted and proactive searches to identify and qualify equipment providers (Truckload, LTL, Air, Ocean, Intermodal / Rail) that supported current or prospective client transportation requirements.  Negotiated new and existing contracts with vendors.  Coordinated with business partners to identify equipment resource needs to support current, new, or prospective business.  Developed and drove the RFP process.  Assisted in carrier strategy development to support business growth and cost savings objectives.  Closed deals or renegotiated terms with equipment providers that addedstrategic value and saved 10% on average.  Improved quality and risk mitigation through establishment of partnership with a third party to ensure no lapse in carriers insurance, authority or permits.

1998 - 2007

Manager, Small Shipment Tracking

Established shipment tracking function of growth.Managed over $40M in annual spending, up from original $1.75M at the start.  Developed and trained team for effective problem solving and to ensure the on-time delivery of client’s shipments through aggressive tracking functions, creative shipment rescue protocols, and carrier relationship management.  Managed 15 direct reports which included 3 supervisors.  Responsible for developing goals for each of my reports and analyze their progress on a quarterly basis.  

Responsible for writing and implementing the processes, procedures, training manuals, testing modules, and chain of command reporting functions. Instituted carrier scorecard program to provide carrier's "On Time" delivery performance for visibility.  Drove service improvements by developing a daily scorecard and issue reports, listing issues, resolution, and any additional cost.  Developed and used carrier on-time performances scorecard during carrier cost negotiations.

1997 - 1998

Regional Manager

Established First Region as test for eventual four region system, covering all areas of the US.Organized Chain of Command, reporting functions, and tracked progress, resulting in company wide use.Managed 4 dispatchers and 2 support staff.

Established 4 region system to drive improved processes for dispatch and coordination of freight delivery.Managed dispatch team for on time delivery of clients shipments while driving down cost.

Created shipment procedures and tracking processes to ensure shipments meet successful delivery requirements where customers were kept informed on a real time basis from time of pickup to point of delivery.

1994 - 1997


Worked closely with printers to coordinate when freight would be off press in order to have equipment standing by for delivery.  Reported progress, along with any printer issues causing delay in being off press timely, to client services.Developed regular carriers for region of responsibility to negotiate lowest possible cost.Achieved average profit for jobs of responsibility, which ran consistent at 50 to 60% year after year.Achieved lowest annual cost per mile average in company each year.Accomplished building truckloads that delivered at lowest cost in company each year.
