At DePauw University, I am currently a second semester freshman with 11 transfer credits from Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, NY. I am an intended Economics major, with a 3.33 GPA. I have taken classes in Communications and Black Studies. Based on my oral communication and organizational skills, I am certain I will be a good addition to the Management Fellows program. I am extremely hard working, motivated and determined to sharpen my skills. I live by the quote, “success is not a destination, it’s a journey,” and I believe that acceptance into the Management Fellows program will take me on a journey that will develop my skills and provide me with new skills. My resume highlights my ability to lead a large group, be an innovative teammate, and help individuals who cannot help themselves. This past summer, I was a mentor at The Renaissance University for Community Education (TRUCE) in Harlem, New York. I had the pleasure of working with troubled Harlem residents who could not pass the State Regents Exam, and I am proud to say all of the students passed their regents by the end of the summer. Over winter term, I had the privilege of completing the Capstone Project, where I was the Chief Executive Officer of a team of 6 individuals working to establish a charter school in Detroit, Michigan. Upon completion of the Capstone project, I was awarded the Capstone Project Leadership Award because of my ability to work with my teammates and create an innovative business plan. As a DePauw university Bonner Scholar, I have learned the importance of working with others, being organized and most importantly, working with a diverse group of people.
