Operating efficiently in the world as it is now and being able to keep up with the constant changes happening everywhere one has to be able to think critically and with broad ideas. Every part of our lives have become interconnected in an important way and have to be approached with an eye to these connections in order to make decisions as an individual and all the way up to an international scale. In order to do this one has to have a sense of responsibility for oneself and one’s community. Through studying philosophy and law and society, I have been learning how to take responsibility and educate myself and others in order to make better personal decisions and better decisions in large organizations. I try to learn more every day, help others learn more and create imaginative and understanding solutions to problems in my own life and in society as a whole. Education, critical thinking and understanding are the keys to making serious improvements to the world around us.

I have also learned, through my job and volunteer experiences, the importance of feeling like a part of a place. One has to learn to feel responsible for their physical living space in both private and public spaces. Attempting to create a vibrant community life seems to be the key to helping all members of the community feel like they are members and take responsibility for their public spaces.

During the summers I have been working near home in agriculture and the construction industry, giving me the skills to work well in a team, prioritize tasks and then combining these skills to accomplish larger goals; along with an understanding of the importance of safety in the work environment.
