Responsible for all editorial content used by clients to create custom newsletters with monthly readership of more than 1 million. Accomplishments:

  • Developed partnerships with national brands, such as Pampered Chef, to provide editorial content.
  • Created never-before-offered columns for clients written by topic experts, such as personal coaches, astrologers, chefs and real estate stagers.
  • Identified and instigated new syndicated content streams to enhance editorial productivity.
  • Streamlined editorial processes with new tracking systems to ensure deadline accuracy.
  • Conceived new products (newsletters, testimonials, how-to guides) to improve communication with clients.
  • Increased editorial offerings to clients by 300% over three years, from limited general-interest articles to new subsections focused on dental, health, fitness, legal, real estate, Alzheimer’s, fashion, caregiving, finance, environment/ecology, family, home and garden, technology, fashion, organization and more.
  • Improved client education on company services via creation of online training module (writing script, directing graphics and supervising voice talent).
  • Wrote and designed company’s first press kit to promote company’s brand at conventions and trade shows.
  • Awarded cash prize by CEO for ideas proposed to increase company efficiencies and introduce new products.

  • Developed annual/monthly editorial calendar.
  • Performed final edits and approved all content.
  • Conceptualized/developed new products, such as monthly and quarterly how-to newsletters for clients.
  • Served as liaison between sales reps and design team to create custom-branded newsletters.
  • Supervised four production editors and six freelance writers.

Accomplishments:

  • Improved association’s international brand via new partnerships with U.S. and overseas publications by writing articles and providing technical information.
  • Organized first-ever roundtables and committees to educate members on public relations and marketing topics.
  • Upgraded member magazine to highest levels of quality with better-written articles, new columns by industry experts, use of AP Style and professional imposition techniques.
  • Created new templatized marketing products that allowed ease of use by members.
  • Developed detailed P.R. guide for participants of National Water Safety Month with press releases, PSAs, etc.
  • Developed new award competitions for marketing and water-safety programs.
  • Identified international media contacts to develop new marketing streams.
  • Wrote original content for two Web sites: www.waterparks.org and www.waterparks.com.

  • Editor-in-Chief, “World Waterpark” magazine (association magazine).

  • Developed, administered editorial/travel budget ($187,000).
  • Conceived/wrote proposals for special projects: Quarterly consumer publication, “Floral Lifestyles” ($22,000 gross sales for premiere issue), and supplements ($16,500 gross each).
  • Worked closely with circulation staff for positioning and strategic growth.
  • Appointed to first term, voted to second term on public relations committee, Ohio Florists’ Association.
  • Invited to present seminar, Chicago Home & Gift Show.
  • Facilitated roundtables, presented awards at national conventions.
  • Judged Neal Awards (magazine version of Pulitzer Prize).
