I have been a humanitarian for the past year working in both my local Charlotte community, and also in New Orleans helping to re-build. I hope to be apart of a mission trip to Guatemala next spring to further my love of humanitarian work.
Shift Supervisor
I have been a Shift Supervisor for the past three years in two different coffee houses that include Caribou Coffee and Dilworth Coffee. I have overseen the work of eighteen different team members and have worked for three different managers. I managed the highest volume store for Caribou in Charlotte and now work for a local community based coffee house that allows me to be more integrated into my community.
Literary Publishing and Editing
I am highly trained in the ways of Publishing and Editing. I have been an editor for the past four years. My junior and senior year in high school I was a co-editor, and the past two years in college I have been both the Poetry editor and also the Non-Fiction editor.

I am a Creative Writing major with a concentration in Print Journalism. I have just recently attained an internship with SlamCharlotte. I have background in Literary Publishing and Editing with the literary magazine Signet at Queens University of Charlotte. I have humanitarian background with a trip to re-build New Orleans, and am a founding father of the organization Build 4 Cause which devotes bi-yearly trips to help re-build New Orleans.

An educational internship in a performing arts or literary publishing and editing organization that uses my skills in writing, community orgnaization, and management in the Charlotte area.

I helped to re-build the store qualifications for the East Blvd. Caribou in Charlotte. I was transfered specifically to that location to re-train both team members and shift supervisors alike. I completed this task in less than three months.

Joel Ferdon is a student at Queens University of Charlotte pursuing a B.A. in Creative Writing with a concentration in Print Journalism. In his spare time he enjoys reading, writing, hanging out with friends and picking up and driving to Georgia to be with his girlfriend. He looks to go to Graduate school after Queens for a masters in either Creative Writing or Community Organization. There are many things that Joel would like to do when he grows up such as work for a literary magazine, be a teacher, a residence coordinator, travel the world being a coffee taster, or in the words of Jack Kerouac "I like too many things and get all confused and hung-up running from one falling star to another till i drop. This is the night, what it does to you. I had nothing to offer anybody except my own confusion."
