About Tanner attorney

Howard Tanner is a highly rated attorney and managing partner at Tanner & Ortega LLP in New York City. Prior to co-founding Tanner & Ortega, LLP, in 1998, Howard Tanner worked in two other legal positions, including serving as an assistant district attorney for Kings County in Brooklyn.

Mr. Tanner earned a bachelor of arts in criminal justice from the University of Florida in 1986. He went on to complete his juris doctor at the University of Miami School of Law, where he was part of the Moot Court Board Executive Council and the Student Judiciary Committee.

During his career, which spans more 25 years, Mr. Tanner has been recognized by the National Trial Lawyers Association, appearing on the group’s list of the Top 100 Trial Lawyers in both 2014 and 2015. He served as a legal analyst for Court TV and has been interviewed for Dateline NBC.

Mr. Tanner has handled a number of well-known criminal cases, such as the Narcy Novack murder trial of 2012. His cases have been featured on the Investigation Discovery channel and on CBS network’s 48 Hours, and he has been quoted and interviewed by a number of major news organizations, including the New York Times and the Associated Press.
