Amway launched its first product, Liquid Organic Cleaner, in 1959 in Ada, Michigan. By 1972, Amway began selling the first Artistry products, acquired the Nutrilite brand, and established an international presence with offices in Canada and Australia. During the 1980s, Amway reached $1 billion in sales through the work of 1 million distributors in 20 countries. Amway’s four-star, 682-room Grand Plaza Hotel opened in Michigan in 1981. The 1990s were a period of growth as the company doubled in size and reach. By its 50th anniversary, Amway celebrated its success by launching the One by One Campaign to help underprivileged children around the world, opening the Center of Optimal Health in California, and building the Amway Center in Florida, the home of Orlando Magic basketball team. Today, Amway offers Artistry and Satinique beauty products and the Nutrilite vitamin and mineral nutrition line. It also supplies a full line of products for the home, including the eSpring water purifier line and the Atmosphere air purifier line. Amway also sells cookware, automotive, and pet products.
