High School Principal at Mobridge-Pollock School District

I am in my first year as the high school principal in the Mobridge-Pollock School District.  Prior to my current employment, I was the 7-12 principal in the Napoleon Public School.  During my time in Napoleon, I led my team of teachers through the successful implementation of Multi-Tiered System of Supports for Behavior (MTSS-B).  Our positive behavior reinforcement system hi-lited the behaviors that we wanted to see in our students and actively endorsed our school values: integrity, growth, and community.  Prior to my employment in Napoleon, I was an Education Specialist, New Teacher Mentor, and Literacy Coach for Northwest Area Schools - ESA 5 serving teachers and administrators in 21 school districts in north central South Dakota.  My areas of my expertise surrounded the comprehensive analysis, planning, and delivery of school improvement strategies, helping schools identify and remedy areas of need.  Becoming a principal has provided me with an opportunity enhance the school district I am employed with while utilizing my educational foundation, leadership skills, and invaluable work experiences.

I have the great opportunity to work closely with 17 highly qualified teaching staff, four outstanding paraprofessionals, 5 excellent support staff, and nearly 200 high school students, preparing them for their next steps after high school.  Aside from building positive relationships with staff, students, and parents, we have been working on developing successful social skills to help our students be college, career, and/or military ready.  Additionally, our staff has been introduced to culturally responsive teaching and positive interventions instruction which has been instrumental in our staff experiencing more productive class time.
