Individuals looking to begin their child's lifelong dental care frequently turn to her practice, conveniently located at 3000 N. MacArthur Boulevard.Holding a specialized certificate in pediatric dentistry, Dr. Hollea White understands the special care required to treat children and adolescents. Toddlers, children, pre-teens, and teenagers all receive individualized approaches to their care at Hollea White, DMD, PC. As studies now show that poor dental hygiene can lead to serious complications like heart disease later in life, establishing good oral hygiene habits can never begin too soon.Dr. Hollea White recommends that parents begin preparing their child for a trip to the dentist when they are around one year old. Often, she will begin child dental care by simply meeting with the child and establishing a relationship, before any actual treatment begins. By coaching the parents of young patients, she can make sure that a child understands what to expect during a visit to the dentist, which helps to create a positive experience. At Hollea White, DMD, PC, Dr. White makes every effort to make certain that a trip to the dentist does not lead to a lifetime of fear and anxiety about tooth care. For children that do exhibit severe anxiety about visiting the dentist, she recommends the use of nitrous oxide to put them at ease. In the case of emergency dental treatment, she works with a professional anesthesiologist to administer intravenous (IV) sedation, and she is on staff at Las Colinas Surgery Center if there is need for general anesthesia.Hollea White, DMD, received her training in pediatric dentistry through the University of Cincinnati and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. A specialized program of study, the pediatric dentistry certificate requires an additional two years of training.
