Lead Acer Americas logistics department with an annual budget of $55 million and $2 billion in annual sales. Lead a team of associates for inbound ocean and air freight, outbound domestic, rate analysis/contracts, customs compliance, special projects/rework, and claims. Standardized all Asian, North and South American logistics agreements to insure consistent rate structure, documented standards of care, and vendor responsibility for loss and damage insurance. Renegotiated 3PL vendor contract to save 10% annually. Consolidated the Gateway/eMachines private DC into Acer’s third party DC. Converted Gateway/eMachines order management system into Acer’s order management system. Created strategic plans with suppliers to integrate the development and delivery process of two new wireless phone products.

Senior Director Global Logistics 2004 - 2008 Planned and directed all aspects of Gateway and eMachines logistics management from international origins to retail destinations throughout the world. Selected and managed third party distribution centers in the United Kingdom, Japan and Mexico. Implemented logistics functions at four new international manufacturing locations in China and Mexico. Negotiated a $2.9 million annualized save in inbound ocean container contracts. Launched Gateway/eMachines products with five new retail partners. Transitioned eMachines order management functions from SAP to Oracle. Designed and implemented a hybrid ocean and air transportation strategic partnership for notebook drop shipments from China to US retail destinations. Created a comprehensive performance measurement scorecard for freight forwarders to collect and analyze operational performance, account management, tactical management, billing and overall service which realized improvements in lead time, reduction in loss and damage, timeliness of information flow and improved on time/right quantity.

Created eMachines logistics department. Signed all contracts and negotiated terms of purchase with supply chain vendors and terms of sale to all retail customers with a $32 million annual budget. Improved responsiveness and efficiency in meeting customer demand when the business model changed from 4 inventory turns per year into demand driven 50 inventory turns per year. Created strategic partnerships and collaboration with suppliers, customers, distributors, sales and manufacturing operations supply chain partners. Created a supply chain process to distribute notebook computers from Asia to North American retail customers, and for online sales of desktop computers and monitors from eMachines DC directly to customer’s homes.

Manager Outbound Operations
Managed outbound transportation and logistics operations with a budget of $70 million. Insured the least cost, on-time movement of merchandise from Distribution Centers to the retail stores. Played a key role in negotiating and maintaining relationships with carriers. Determined the delivery schedules and service requirements for approximately 500 stores throughout the USA including Alaska and Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands. Saved $1.1 million in offshore transportation costs through contract negotiations. Saved $700,000 in outbound cost through the implementation of an outbound load program.

Monitored approximately 20,000 FEUs annually from over forty countries through customs clearance to seventeen DC’s. Provided loading authorization to foreign consolidators in low volume and unique situations. Participated in the selection of ocean carriers and international consolidators. Supervised the Manager of Audit regarding ocean freight, per diem and demurrage auditing. Created the initial logistics procedures regarding inbound and outbound logistics at the Import Deconsolidation Center in Wilmington, CA.

Managed all inbound and outbound transportation functions for the 1.5 million square foot DC. Supervised and trained transportation department associates on all three shifts. Utilized a computerized system to route a dedicated carrier and several contract carriers for daily deliveries to two hundred stores in five states. Conducted on site meetings with store managers to discuss concerns regarding carrier deliveries and DC performance.
