Training and Mentoring

I have been responsible for mentoring and supervision of junior staff. In my current role, I have been the mentor of my colleagues with regard to managing projects for changing and focussing on higher result level as opposed to focus on the output at the lower/activity level

Organizational Development (OD)

As a program manager for a grant making institution, I have been responsible for reviewing applications for funding as well as capacity of applicant institutions to utilize the funds and deliver on the agreed upon objectives. As such, I am familiar with a variety of organizational assessment approaches. Subsequent to the assessments, I have developed frameworks that aim at strengthening the candidate organization with regard to programmatic, finance and administration processes and procedures

Proposal Development

I am adept at developing proposal to secure funding for developmental projects and I have developed proposals that have secured funding from agencies such as DFID, USAID, EC, DANIDA, UNDP and SIDA. In addition, I possess excellent budgeting skills and I have been responsible for developing budgets to accompany proposals submitted to the agencies named herein above

Project Development

I have been developing projects that aim at addressing poverty and injustices in the developing world context. I have developed projects in Kenya, Tanzania and Sudan and hence I am familiar with variety of project/program development and management approaches such as Logical Framework, Rights Based Approaches and Results Based Management

Summary

Program design and management:

·Developed and led a team of staff, consultants and volunteers in implementation of governance and human rights projects in three districts in rural Kenya;

·Was part of team that developed the Christian Aid Sudan Country Strategy (2008-12); specifically contributed to the developing of the Accountable Governance Projects as well as refining of sector results;

·Was part of team that developed Para-legal strengthening program in Kenya and managed and supervised its implementation by consultants and volunteers;

Research:

·Designed and led the implementation of a baseline survey on governance, access to justice and dispute resolution in three districts in rural Kenya;

·Developed research tools for stakeholders’ needs assessment that informed the development of Christian Aid Sudan Country Strategy;

·Designed and led team in undertaking a baseline survey on Rule of Law in Nuba Mountains (South Kordofan) in Sudan;
