As an experienced medical-surgical nurse I am now focusing on the professional growth of healthcare employees and through inservices and other continuing education programs through a variety of instructional design methods.  My education experience includes patient and family education on diabetes management, coordinating and teaching a diabetes support group and academic education in  practical nursing and associate degree nursing programs.  I have worked at the patient bedside in a variety of medical-surgical settings.

Staff Development Educator

St. Anthony's Medical Center

LMS administrator for organization of 4200 employees.  Created elearning modules, competency assessment tests based on content provided by a subject matter expert; then assigned them to appropriate employee groups.  Provided support to employees and managers to navigate the LMS system.

Developed and presented, via a variety of teaching methods, various clinical and non clinical topics during orientation, graduate nurse programs, preceptor training and other inservice and continuing education programs.   

Through a team approach, provided didactic nursing orientation and specifically taught electronic medical record [Epic].

Co-chaired the Nurse Education Council.

Coached thirty medical-surgical nurses through the CMSRN certification process in 2009.

Team member for several housewide education processes at various times.  Participated in revising policies, forms.  Developed education plans and delivered education related to these team projects.

Coordinated mandatory education requirements for 90-100 full and part-time staff.

Developed a knowledge and skill validation test for chemotherapy certified nurses and used results to direct continuing education and review of skills.

Prepared and presented various nursing topics during orientation, Graduate Nurse Fellowship, preceptor training and other educational programs offered by department.

Member of two shared governance councils and served as chairperson of the Nursing Professional Development Council for one year.  Worked with Information Systems to develop an electronic library for council information and newsletters.

Coordinated presenters and programming of Nursing Grand Rounds on monthly basis.

Editor of shared governance newsletter.  Created and wrote unit-based newsletter as supplement to staff meetings.

Halogen is a web-based performance management program.  It offers performance management and  appraisal features.  In 2012 began using Halogen as an elearning management system.  My role has been to administer the elearning system.


Captivate is a software program used for presentation design and interactive electronic learning.


HealthStream, a learning management system, is a software package that provides online education and tracking of employee education.  I have built a learning module in HealthStream and authored a variety of other modules and post tests for HealthStream.  I have used the data for reports to managers, directors and regulatory organizations.

Microsoft Office

Have utilized Word, PowerPoint and Excel for many years to create reports, presentations, flyers and handouts.  Use Publisher as a tool for designing and organizing flyers and self study education opportunities. 

BLS Instructor

Have taught HeartSaver AED and BLS classes for those in healthcare.  Have completed skill validations only method with the HeartCode System.
