Board Member/Director

River Theater

Co-founder of a community non-profit theater company that produces plays, offers classes and workshops for ages 8 through adult and helps preserve the heritage of the Town Hall theater and the plays of Charlestown playwright Charles Hoyt.  Responsible for board assignment, directing shows and producing needs.

Theater/Art Professor

New England Classical Academy

Founder and developer of drama and art program at NECA, a private classical school.  Currently in sixth year of position, teaching drama weekly to grades 1-6 and thrice weekly to grades 7-12. Taught art weekly to grades 1-12 for three years, and now oversee program. Director of the Drama Club, and production playwright/ director for original production of "The Phantom of the Opera", "The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe" original production of  "Arabian Nights,"  "The Man Who Came To Dinner," "Les Miserables," "The Winter's Tale" and "The Centerville Ghost" as well as numerous scene nights and fully staged murder mysteries.

Claremont Homeschool Cooperative

Taught weekly session on Shakespeare to 12 homeschool students between the ages of 12 and 17, focusing on Shakespeare's play The Tempest.   Students read the play, were assigned roles, did beginning text analysis, and rehearsed the play and presented it to a live audience.  Emphasis was placed on understanding Elizabethan words and approaching the story as actors.

The Grammar School

Retained for three years, and invited back for 2010, as the director of the annual spring middle school musical.  The production is part of the school curriculum, involving each member of the seventh and eighth grade of this small, private school.  Past productions include Grease, Jr., Bugsy Malone Jr. and Oklahoma!  The production is  fully staged and open to the public and students are double cast in order to focus on developing in depth-roles.

Northern Stage

Founded, ran and taught classes at professional theater company for students ages 7 through adults.  Responsible for creating after school classes and vacation programs, maintaing $80,000 annual budget, hiring instructors, writing and proofing brochure copy, handling class registrations, supporting mainstage education programs,  writing studyguides, selling and organizing school matinees, coaching young members of the professional company and representing the education program to the community.  Also served as a residence artist of theater and Shakespeare at numerous schools including St. Mary's School (Claremont, NH), Academy School (Brattleboro, VT), Crossroads Academy (Lyme, NH) Rivendell Academy (Orford, NH) and Lebanon High School, NH, Hartford Middle School (Hartford, VT) and Mt. Ascutney School (Ascutney, VT).

Selected to create, run and direct middle school drama club and productions.  Students were taught acting, play production, new play development, and produced five fully-budgeted plays of The Tempest, Integrity, Play the Part (original script), "The Lion , The WItch and the Wardrobe"Di, This Could be Murder and The Secret Garden.

Invited to direct "The Crucible" with high school drama club, continuing to work with students who had previously been under direction at the middle school.

Fall Mountain Regional High School

Established school's first acting class for grades 9 through 12, focusing on introductory acting skills and classical acting, employing a program of "page to stage" where the students focused on producing a production of Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale.  Also taught freshman level beginning art class, focusing on still life drawing, perspective, negative space, different mediums of art including textile, charcoal, pen and ink, and watercolor.

Union Street School

Invited to lead a five-week residency for 9 classes, K- 6  and teach fundamentals of theater.  Students explored voice, puppetry, creative movement, improvisation and dramatic poetry.  Each class worked on a short script developed by the instructor.

Green Mountain Theater Festival

Recruited to teach two two-week acting sessions for students in grades 3-5 and 6-8.  Students explored acting in short adaptations of fairy tales and one act plays, with an emphasis on comedic technique.

The Rushmore Festival

Hired to assist General Manager of professional summer theater and arts festival held at the Charles Rushmore Estate in Woodbury, NY.  Responsible for day-to-day running of festival, inlcuding coordinating transportation and housing arrangements of  guest artists, overseeing interns, and assisting with rehearsals and set-ups of productions and events.

Graduate Assistant-Theater Instructor/Stage Manager

Northern Illinois University Theater Arts Department

Awarded graduate assistantship and taught Intro to Acting for non-majors and Introduction to Theater for 143 liberal arts students.    Created and developed lesson plans on acting, history of theater, live demonstrations by members of the theater arts department, critiques of local productions and scene work.  Also served as producer and advisor for student directing series, overseeing both undergraduate and graduate directors on independent projects and coaching their development as directors.  Served as Stage Manager on productions of Speed-the-Plow, A...My Name is Alice, Titus Andronicus, and the Fall Dance Concert.
