Heather Goff is the associate editor of Specialty Publications at the Press-Register. This department includes Zalea, Better Health & Living, and Gulf Coast Weddings magazines. She is also certified as a Group Fitness Instructor by the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America. She completed her bachelor's degree in Communication and Information Sciences in 2007 at The University of Alabama. She is currently pursuing a second bachelor's degree in Food and Nutrition at the University of Alabama.
Heather Goff has two passions – journalism and nutrition. In pursuing certification as a registered dietitian, she hopes to marry the two interests in her future career. She plans to specialize in nutrition education – including workplace seminars, on college campuses and in published articles. She has observed a growing interest in heath, fitness and nutrition in recent years. Yet, the nation's obesity epidemic is still rising. The idea of visiting a dietitian's office may seem too costly or intimidating to many people. As a result, Heather aspires to take practical lessons of good nutrition to a broader audience – reaching beyond the clinical setting to educate the general public about weight management and disease prevention.
