Healthcare & marketing strategist for Mission Health's Department of Marketing & Digital Strategies Mission Health, based in Asheville, N.C., is the state’s sixth largest health system and the tertiary care regional referral center for Western North Carolina and the adjoining region. In 2012, Mission Health was named by Thomson Reuters as one of the top 15 health systems in the nation – the only health system in North Carolina to receive this recognition. Founded in 1885, Mission Health is a not-for-profit, independent community hospital system that operates four hospitals, numerous outpatient and surgery centers, and the region’s only dedicated Level II trauma center. Its medical staff consists of more than 750 physicians, and is certified in more than 50 medical specialties and subspecialties. Centers of excellence include heart, stroke care, neurosciences and pediatrics. Mission Hospital, the system’s flagship hospital, is licensed for 730 beds and is the busiest surgical hospital in North Carolina. Other Mission hospitals include Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine, McDowell Hospital in Marion, and Mission Children’s Hospital in Asheville. With approximately 8,800 employees and 700 volunteers, Mission Health is dedicated to serving and improving the health and wellness of the people of Western North Carolina.

Mission Health, based in Asheville, NC, is the state’s sixth largest health system and the tertiary care regional referral center for Western North Carolina and the adjoining region. Mission is a not-for-profit, independent community hospital system accredited by The Joint Commission.  Member hospitals are governed by volunteer boards of directors representing the communities they serve.

The main hospital in the system, Mission Hospital, is licensed for 730 beds on its two adjoining campuses in Asheville, Memorial and St. Joseph. The medical staff has more than 750 physicians representing most specialties and subspecialties. There are 6,000 employees and nearly 700 volunteers.

Mission is the busiest surgical hospital in North Carolina. Its centers of excellence include heartstroke care and neurosciencespediatrics, and the region’s dedicated Level II Trauma Center.

The primary role of the College of Education and Allied Professions is to prepare educators, counselors, psychologists, speech-language pathologists, recreation personnel and other human service specialists at both entry and advanced levels.

These professionals will staff public elementary, secondary, postsecondary schools, sport and recreation agencies, and other human service organizations in North Carolina and the region beyond.

The College fulfills its mission by developing and maintaining a community of scholars that promotes and recognizes good teaching, service, and research.

Of these three scholarly activities, providing optimal learning environments for students is most important, followed by service and research.

  • Advising: Charged with developing, implementing and evaluating a college-wide model for academic advising housed within WCU's College of Education and Allied Professions.
  • Recruitment: Responsible for cultivating relationships with University offices, community colleges and public school systems to enhance the yield of diverse, academically qualified teacher education candidates
  • Community Building: Looking for ways to building and establish community among CEAP students, including exploring the prospect of learning communities, guest lectures and panels as well as the formation of a student organization
  • E-Marketing: Enhancing the image of WCU's CEAP as well as increasing aided and unaided awareness of the college via online tactics, including social media marketing

  • Marketing:  Improved the University's image by assisting in the design and development of print and electronic marketing materials in addition to developing a social media presence for the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
  • Communication: Developed and led the implementation of a comprehensive communication plan for nontraditional and college transfer students, which assisted in growing enrollment more than 17 percent in fall 2009
  • International Admission & Recruitment: Began the formation of relationships with the Saudi Arabian Cultural to offer students the opportunity to study in WCU's Intensive English program and later matriculate into degree-seeking program in addition to reviewing admissibility of international transfer students
