Children, Youth, and Family Services - Gateway to Success

Providing individual therapy with family involvement for clients ages 13 years and older presenting with a variety of psychological disorders (e.g., depression, anxiety, adjustment), autism spectrum disorder, and psychosocial/academic difficulties. Conducted comprehensive psychosocial intake assessments, provided diagnostic classifications, and implemented individualized treatment plans for clients using a multi-modal intervention approach based upon client’s psychological, social, and academic needs.

Attend bi-weekly multi-disciplinary case consultation meetings.

About Heather Kertesz

A student at the California School of Professional Psychology (part of Alliant International University), Heather Kertesz is working toward her doctor of psychology in clinical psychology, with a focus on health psychology. Since 2013, she has undertaken an externship with Gateway to Success, a program administered by the city of Alhambra’s Children, Youth, and Family Services. Heather Kertesz engages with families in providing teen clients therapy for a number of psychological issues, including anxiety and depression. She also assists teens facing academic and psychosocial challenges, as well as conditions such as autism spectrum disorder.

In addition, Ms. Kertesz served an externship with the neuropsychology program of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Working within the Sports Concussion Clinic and the Clinical Trials Unit, she evaluated the neuropsychological and developmental status of patients, ranging from infants to young adults. Ms. Kertesz holds an MA from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She has an interest in pediatric psychooncology, which involves counseling children living with cancer. Heather Kertesz enjoys yoga, hiking, and fitness activities in her free time.
