Ontario Graduate Certificate

Humber College

Humber’s Public Relations program has prepared me for this challenging field. My education from Humber will  play a vital role in my ability to communicate an organization’s mission and success. Experienced instructors assisted students in developing writing skills, strategic planning abilities, and critical thinking skills in an intensive, practical, educational experience. Skills I have developed that employers look for in public relations professionals: proficient writing skills, enthusiasm, perseverance, teamwork, attention to detail, organizational skills and the ability to understand and express the views of others. My degree in Psychology combined with public relations training has enabled me to have a deep understanding of people. My education will be beneficial specifically in marketing/advertising, media relations, corporate communications and change management.

My Portfolio

Thanks again for the Social Media workshop you and your fellow students gave for the Alzheimer Society of Ontario. We asked you to go beyond the basics and act as "consultants," advising us on best practices, how we could improve on the social media tools we already use, how to evaluate and what we could do next.

The information you presented was clear and helpful. Your presentation skills were exemplary and you all pitched in to help us clear up the inevitable technical issues when we wanted to allow other staff from around the province to participate as well.

We have implemented several of your recommendations, (the surest sign of a successful workshop!),

Event Management
Alcohol Awareness 2011 was a huge success. My colleagues and I collaborated cross-functionally between committees to put forth a flawless event for our client Maggie Hobbs. As food and beverage coodinator, I overcame crisis when our mocktail bartender cancelled within one week of the event. I created all mocktails to ensure the day went smoothly. I learned how important every detail is to run an event to satisfy the client.
