Merchandising

Being in the food services business for many years has given me excellent merchandising experience. I was responsible for produce and seafood displays with Best of PEI and MR Seafoods. I am currently responsible for produce and seafood displays with Sobeys. I pride myself on always maintaining a clean and organized environment that is inviting to the customer. I can easily follow a merchandising plan but also like to use my own initiative and creativity when the need calls for troubleshooting solutions.

Food and Beverage Services

I have extensive experience in the food and beverage services industry. I have been everything from a meat cutter and inspector to host and bartender, as well as supervisor and manager. I have been involved in all aspects of the daily operations of a bar, restaurant, and grocery store including ordering, shipping/receiving, customer service, quality control, and staff supervision.   I thrive on multitasking and a challenge.

Management

At MR Seafoods, I was responsible for managing the entire retail sales staff including scheduling daily delivery routes and customer service.   At Ruthies Pub and Brothers Two Restaurant, I was responsible for all areas of restaurant operations including staff training and supervision, customer service, food and beverage quality control, ordering and receiving of bar supplies, shift paperwork, booking entertainment, and troubleshooting any problems that might arise in a busy restaurant. I also performed maintenance duties for the restaurant as needed including cleaning. As well, I organized and supervised the Feast Dinner Theatre at Brothers Two.   I successfully ran my own business, including all book keeping, setting goals, and creating good relationships with my customers.   At St. Andrew's Mini Golf Course, I was responsible for  daily operations of the golf course including hiring, training, and supervising staff, book keeping, customer service, and shipping and receiving all canteen and mini golf supplies. I also cared for and maintained all flower beds, lawns, and performed all grounds maintenance.

Problem Solving and Decision Making

Every position has given me the opportunity to develop and use my problem solving and decision making skills. At MR Seafoods, I had to troubleshoot delivery schedules and product ordering which often changed at the last minute. In the past, working at restaurants, I had to think on my feet repeatedly to ensure exceptional customer service and staff organization.   As a volunteer firefighter of over 15 years, I have to be constantly aware that my decisions can save lives and property. Problem solving dangerous situations is a necessary part of serving and protecting my community.

Organization

I have repeatedly demonstrated my ability to plan, organize, and implement designated projects with minimal supervision while working as a member of a team. As a restaurant manager and supervisor, I organized schedules and seating plans.   I recently planned and organized a large seafood showcase that increased the overall wholesale and retail seafood business of MR Seafoods.   Previously, I managed my own NASCAR collectibles business on a daily basis including stock ordering, shipping and receiving, and overall organization.

Communication

As a sales person and account manager, excellent communication and interpersonal skills are mandatory.  I make it my policy to regularly speak with all major accounts on a weekly and sometimes daily basis either in person or on the phone. My communication skills have also been demonstrated repeatedly while managing staff (including schedule and delivery changes), and other client relationships. I communicate on a daily basis through written emails, pricing sheets, schedules, orders, and other documents.

Sales and Prospecting

With MR Seafoods, I was responsible for prospecting, securing, and servicing wholesale and retail clients on PEI. I managed account relationships, took orders, and delivered to restaurants all across the Island. I  increased MR Seafoods client base by 30% + since starting there and opened up previously unavailable markets.   With Weed Man, I was responsible for prospecting new client leads for the various lawn products available on PEI. I worked independently and as the sole representative on PEI, I produced results far above the standard and as a result I greatly increased the Weed Man client base on PEI.
