To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing in response to your job posting for the Marketing and Public Relations Internship. I am currently a senior at Elon University completing a major in Corporate Communications with a minor in Business Administration, and I would love the opportunity to work with your organization.  Through my experiences there, I have also gained a great deal of respect for the entire KDP organization, and I would love to continue to be a part of it.

For the past two summers, I have worked as a Youth Program Associate at the Kiawah Island Club. In this capacity, I have worked very closely with the families that live there. Through developing strong member relations with these families, they have provided me with ongoing feedback, which have in turn enabled me to understand what they want in a vacation community.

Over the last few years, I have developed valuable skills that make me a good candidate for this position.  Elon’s School of Communications offers a very hands-on program that has provided me with the expertise necessary to be successful in the Public Relations and Marketing fields. I have developed strong writing and communications skills, as well as knowledge of how to use them in an effective way. In addition, I am proficient in Adobe Photoshop and InDesign, as well as Final Cut Pro, and Dreamweaver.

In the fall of 2008, I interned at QuickStep PR in London, England, an interior design public relations firm. During my time there, I organized press cuttings and magazine data, and I researched media to create a database of all possible promotional outlets for our clients. My experience there was invaluable in helping me transfer what I had learned in the classroom to the real world of Public Relations. As a result of my hard work, I was recently inducted into Lambda Pi Eta, the Communications Honor Society.

In addition to my summer experiences with the Summer Youth Program at the Kiawah Island Club, I have worked as a student receptionist in the Elon University Graduate Admissions Office. There, I developed strong computer skills as well as a knowledge of Datatel Database software and Microsoft Office.

Here is my resume with additional information about my qualifications. Thank you for considering my application, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
