Hassan Sadiq is the founder of eeGeo, a company focused on 3D mapping. Founded in 2010, the company was rebranded to WRLD later that year. This move was aimed at coming up with a brand and identity that better reflect the breadth and the scope of the organisation’s vision- that is to create an immersive world in 3D. As a 3D mapping company, WRLD is responsible for providing tools that are necessary for the creation of geospatial applications for smart cities, buildings, and games.
At present, the company has relocated the operations of its head offices from Dundee to the US. Operations are going to be conducted from Los Angeles moving forward. The development organisation of the company, however, will still remain in Dundee. The move to LA will allow WRLD the opportunity to take advantage of the flourishing virtual and augmented reality communities in California. The move is also another way of helping the company grow its presence all over the WRLD. Not only will this allow the organisation to have better access to financing, it will also pave the way for better access to talent as well.
The company’s platform allows mapping not only for web browsers but for mobile platforms and for virtual and augmented reality as well. Majority of the maps produced by WRLD at present are being used by private companies. These companies decide whether they would make their maps private or public. The maps that WRLD creates make it possible for the mapping of transportation hubs within the platform where the output can be easily shared with everyone. This is an indispensable tool for companies as this allows their physical assets to be mapped.
In the future, WRLD hopes to build true to life three-dimensional maps for game developers to allow a more immersive gaming experience. This is not only something that will benefit the gaming industry, but also tour companies, museums, transportation, and more.
