About Me

A graduate of one of the country’s leading engineering programs, Harry Kalsch earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer and Electrical Engineering from Purdue University. After obtaining his B.S., Mr. Kalsch accepted a job offer from IBM, relocating to Houston, Texas, to work as a Systems Engineer. During his tenure with IBM, Mr. Kalsch returned to school, completing his M.S. in Computer Science while working full time. While employed with IBM, Harry Kalsch served as an AIX services team leader. Used in a variety of business applications, AIX is an open, standards-based operating system that evolved from the UNIX platform and is compatible with IBM mainframe computers, PS/2 personal computers, and Apple Network Servers. Developing a reputation for excellent customer service, Mr. Kalsch worked on site or on call during key phases of software development and implementation. He assisted a broad range of businesses, from small companies to international giants, through IBM’s AIX Services consultation business. After 13 years with IBM, Harry Kalsch established his own consultation business, nohup corp, in 1999. Mr. Kalsch named the business after a UNIX command code used to keep a system running. The company continues to work closely with IBM, serving as an authorized subcontractor for IBM Business Partners. As a consultant, Harry Kalsch provides performance analysis, systems optimization, storage management, and troubleshooting for companies employing the AIX operating system and IBM P-series servers. In addition to his work as a computer engineer, Harry Kalsch obtained a real estate license and began working with Key Realty in Houston in 1994. Now the owner of the company, Mr. Kalsch works with architects and contractors to transform existing structures into more desirable properties. In 2005, he formed a separate company, South Point Properties, LLC, with his business partner to manage investments in oil and gas real estate, building a portfolio of diversified growth properties.Harry Kalsch resides in Houston, where he enjoys biking, jogging, and playing golf in his free time.
