Direct management responsibility for all IT Infrastructure resources and functions for North America. This includes Data Centers operations, 150+ physical and virtual servers, backup systems, local and wide area networks and 500+ desktop systems at 13 North American locations. Currently leading the design and integration of all global infrastructure systems. Manage IT Operations personnel and provide hands-on support for the environment as needed.  

• Managed the migration of all North America data center infrastructure to an Infrastructure as a Service offering. This included over 150 servers and the deployment of a new backup and disaster recovery system. This resulted in improved performance and capacity, reduced support requirements by internal personnel, and greater protection and security.

• Designed global IT Infrastructure to consolidate and integrate multiple Active Directory forests, establish global IT Infrastructure management, and unify eMail systems. Currently leading the project to deploy Office 365 globally which will provide a unified eMail platform, improved communication tools, and standardized application across the enterprise.

• Designed, built out, and migrated over 80 servers from a VMWare 3.x environment to VSphere 4.1 High Availability environment including all new HP servers, Cisco switching environment and HP Lefthand iSCSI storage.
• Reviewed and revised existing Active Directory Forest and Domain design, operation, and security significantly improving both overall security and system performance.
• Designed global IT Infrastructure to consolidate and integrate multiple Active Directory forests, establish global IT Infrastructure management, and unify eMail systems.
• Established policies and procedures for IT Operations group including account and server naming, user account lifecycle management, account auditing, and SOX compliance. Utilized ITIL and Microsoft MOF principles in designing internal operational procedures.
• Designed and deployed upgraded or new systems for Citrix XenApp farms (XenApp 5 and XenApp 6), SharePoint Intranet (2007 to 2010), Exchange eMail (2007 to 2010), Active Directory Domain Controllers and File Servers (2000 and 2003 to 2008), System Center Operations Manager, System Center Configuration Manager, and System Center Service Manager.
• In coordination with the VP of IT, renegotiated datacom contract resulting in over $100,000 per year savings over previous contract.

Direct management responsibility for all IS and IT resources and functions for Americas region. Key member of Global IT Management Team and contributor for global IT initiatives and projects supporting over 500 people located in the United States, France, Hong Kong, China, and Brazil. Manage IT Budget for US, and directly manage US IS/IT team.

• Completed design and build out of data center and all IT systems for new RTP office in a very tight 90 day time frame. Received Senior Management Team Award for Integration Team accomplishments.
• Managed migration of 85 users from Sony Ericsson office to new facility including reimaging all desktops and laptops, transferring all data, and establishing all systems over three weekends with virtually no downtime for users.
• Designed new Windows 2003 Active Directory and Exchange eMail infrastructure that was deployed in the RTP office and eventually deployed as the new global IT standard.
• Designed and implemented Windows Mobile for mobile eMail that provided Executives, Sales, and Field Engineers with real time mobile communications resulting in increased communication and improved customer support.
• Established and presented proof of concept SharePoint system as part of global document management project. Currently leading global production SharePoint design and deployment project.
• Lead project for the design and deployment of Microsoft Office Communications Server (OCS) resulting in increased collaboration and reduced telecommunication and travel expenses.
• Project lead on implementation of IT Service Management (ITSM). This resulted in improved customer service, reduced downtime, and the ability to report on specific metrics.
• Achieved highest user satisfaction marks for Americas region out of all three global regions.
• Provided support for ISO 9000 and SOX audits as a member of the Internal Audit Team.
• Frequent travel to France to work with Global IT Management team, IT and business operations teams, and present to Executive Steering Committee.

Responsible for management and support of all IT systems including servers, desktops, networking, storage, telephony, and software. Oversee two IT Operations employees and provide support to 85 users. Manage IT budget and IT purchasing.

• Designed Windows 2003 AD and XP desktop environment and migrated infrastructure and users from Novell 4.x environment.
• Designed and implemented hardware firewall, anti-virus, Web filtering, automated patch deployment, and server monitoring.
• Upgraded Notes/Domino system and deployed Spam Assassin anti-spam solution reducing spam by over 97%.
• Designed and deployed iSCSI based SAN and new LTO tape library system that resulted in increased data availability, security and protection. Established offsite data replication for SAN data.
• Developed and implemented IT controls to support company compliance efforts including SAS-70 certification.

LPL Financial - Disaster Recovery Project Manager. Developed, documented, and coordinated the testing of disaster recovery plans.

The Customer Connection - Designed and deployed a clustered MS SQL 2000 Server environment and a load balanced Internet front-end server farm.

Manage System Administration group responsible for over 700 Windows NT, Windows 2000 and UNIX production servers, e-mail systems, and supporting infrastructure supporting over 5,000 users in the North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific, daily operations and monitoring, production and change control, vendor management, budgeting and cost management, and project planning and management.

• Established global policies and procedures for all system administration functions. Deployed global server monitoring systems. Directly managed eight people locally. Supervised 15 additional system administration personnel both domestically and internationally on a dotted line basis.
• Led the Exchange and NT 4.0 consolidation projects, resulting in the reduction of multiple Exchange environments into a single entity and reducing the number of legacy NT 4.0 domains, providing simplified management, enhanced function for users, and increased security.
• Led the Windows 2000/Active Directory design and deployment project for Systems Administration group. Worked with Security, Network, and Desktop groups to develop integrated design and deployment plans.
• Key member of the management team that executed several complex corporate acquisition integrations including Harbinger Corporation, Remedy Corporation, and Extricity, Inc.
• Developed an RFP for SAN/NAS data storage project and coordinated with CIO and IT Director on vendor selection and negotiation process. Implemented EMC SAN and NAS infrastructure.

Managed all IT functions including network design, purchasing, asset management, system management, system configuration, and internal user support. Provided internal consulting to the development team.

• Redesigned 150 node network supporting 120 users resulting in a significant increase in network performance. Consolidated multiple domains, increased performance and reliability, and reduced maintenance costs and downtime.
• Redesigned internal and external network security resulting in the closure of significant security holes.

Administered, designed, and implemented Microsoft Exchange and Windows NT in a complex LAN/WAN environment. Lead NT System Administrator responsible for all NT systems and for supervising and directing the work of junior system administrators. Provided third tier technical support for complex system problems and their successful resolution.

• Led the design and implementation of an MS Exchange e-mail environment for 1,800 users across 40 sites. Converted MS Mail, cc:Mail and PMDF e-mail systems to Exchange. Established interoperability with these systems prior to conversions.
• Key participant in the design of the NT infrastructure to replace existing Novell NetWare network. Established the DHCP, DNS, and WINS infrastructure.
• Rewrote all existing system administration job descriptions and assisted in developing a career path program within the IS organization.
• Participated in the desktop refresh project, which deployed a standard interface, standard applications, and manageability using SMS.
• Designed and deployed an Internet web server farm. Relocated existing servers into DMZ for increased security.

Designed, managed and operated e-mail, LAN and WAN systems for the company.  Provided daily management of networking systems including system security, account management, and network troubleshooting.

• Designed and implement international Microsoft Exchange environment.
• Established unified NT domain structure. Implemented DHCP and WINS and migrated DNS from a UNIX system to NT 4.
• Managed Cisco LAN and WAN.

Managed and administered all desktop and network systems, consisting of 500 PCs and 7 file servers at 30 California locations. Hired, managed and supervised three regional LAN administrators.

• Participated as a key member on the team that successfully obtained a five-year, $3.5 billion government contract resulting in the creation of 500 jobs and a significant revenue source for Aetna. Successfully managed and coordinated the design, purchase and installation of all PCs, file servers, and network hardware and Software in an extremely tight five-month time frame. Redesigned initial network proposal resulting in the savings of $200,000 per year in data communication costs.
• Hired, trained, and managed the support team that was responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all PCs, servers and software within the division.
• Managed project to convert 200 users from a host-based e-mail system to Microsoft Mail.
• Designed and installed a Novell multi-server environment in division resulting in quicker response times and increased data security.

Oversaw customer phone support, providing technical support to 350+ accounting system customers. Hired, trained and supervised additional help desk staff.

• Revised 800 phone line support procedures resulting in quicker response to users.
• Implemented PC-based tracking system for customer support calls.
