As a solid Business Writer for 25 years, I have been trained to align with the “business side of subject matters,” thus ensuring the appropriate level of detachment from the technical nitty-gritty of subjects. Over the years, I have consciously developed and nurtured a professional detachment from the subjects I write about.
In my recent experience as a blog developer for an online marketplace that seeks to bring enterprise big-data or BI projects and data scientists, data analysts, or big data experts together—I discovered a great platform to fulfill my business writing mission of exploring business opportunities arising from advanced technologies, product designs, and related service offerings.
Although any topic ranging from a movement in Fine Arts to advanced information technology is essentially “technical” at a deeper level; and no matter how expert a writer may be in developing a narrative around a key concept or in arguing for a business case, the writer is still a storyteller and not the subject-matter expert. And yet, that storyteller is required to flesh out the most convincing business content for any business situation.
