Bachelor's Degree

Indiana University of Pennsylvania

I maintain a 4.0 major GPA and 3.9 overall. I am a Provost scholar and have been on the dean's list every semester. I am in Phi Eta Sigma, Mortar Board, the National Scholars Honor Society and Phi Kappa Phi, all honor societies.

I am President of the Public Relations Student Society of America, and formerly held the position of Public Relations Director.

In spring 2010 I became an IUP Ambassador. Ambassadors is an organization which connects alumni to the current IUP students and faculty.

I have also participated in IUP Model NATO, a conference in Washington D.C. where students go to debate world issues while representing a NATO country. In 2009 I took part in IUP's Undergraduate Scholars Forum where I presented a research paper titled "Facebook and Public Relations." I was awarded an honorable mention for my work.

Social media
I am experienced in many social media platforms and continue to learn more as technology changes. I currently use Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Tumblr, Google Buzz , LinkedIn and PROpenMic and have previous experience with MySpace, Photo Bucket, Blogger and Xanga.
Design and production
I took a layout & design class as part of my major curriculum and got out-of-classroom experience laying out pages of IUP's student newspaper.
Copy editing
I took a copy editing class during my freshman year of college and have continued to improve my skills through my major and my work as an editor at my school's student-run paper.

I am currently a senior at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, working toward a bachelor's degree in journalism with a concentration in public relations and minor in English.

During summer 2010, I was a public relations intern at Brunner Advertising in Pittsburgh. At my internship I gained real-life expereince working on projects for such clients as Heinz, Consol Energy, Cub Cadet, Bob Evans, the Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation, Cherokee Uniforms, Golf Pride, Atlanta Bread and Knouse Foods.

I serve as president of IUP’s chapter of PRSSA, where I am in charge of scheduling speakers and overseeing the activities of the organization.

In my spare time, I attend expos for the university to discuss my experiences and answers questions from potential students about being a journalism major.

I am vice president of the Sutton Chapter of the Mortar Board National Honor Society. I am also a member of IUP Ambassadors, a group which links together students and alumni. My other activities include Phi Kappa Phi, Phi Eta Sigma the National Scholars Honor Society and IUP Model NATO.

I have been on the dean’s list for seven consecutive semesters and am a Provost Scholar. In spring 2010, I was a recipient of the Virginia Ann Deem journalism scholarship.I work in the IUP communications office as a student worker for the media relations director. The communications office is the liaison between the community and the university. On a daily basis I send e-mails to the media, write news releases, edit documents such as the university dean's list, answer and direct phone calls and assist employees as needed.Following my May 2011 graduation, I hope to find a public relations job in the Pittsburgh area.
