I worked for Biggart Baillie LLP between 2004 and 2006. I qualified in January 2006. During my time at Biggarts, I worked predominantly in corporate, projects and large-scale property deals. During this time I helped advise South Lanarkshire Council on their £394M - Secondary Schools Modernisation Programme PPP.
I joined Dickson Minto’s leading private equity team in 2006 and worked on MBOs, large-scale financings and insurance-brokerage acquisitions, and my main clients were based in Australia, Italy and the UK.
I then joined Lester Aldridge in 2007 to work within the Commercial Group. My experience in private equity, public companies, projects and IP/IT made up most of my practice. From June 2007, I worked on largescale procurements for the Projects Team and began building an expertise in construction law. During this time I acted in a Chambers Directory ranked team for a major defence contractor on their successful bid as part of the Airtanker consortium for the largest defence PFI in the UK to date, to construct and maintain the MOD’s £13Bn Future Strategic Tanker Aircraft.
In 2010 I joined Energos/Waste Gas Technology (part of ENER-G plc), where I was responsible for contracts on UK and overseas projects, e.g. working on the £950m Derby Waste PFI.
In 2011 I worked for a top three global, French law firm, and TMT company, before joining Padero Solaer and then Maypole/Bright Funding to work on UK groundmount, rooftop, residential portfolio, CEE and African solar pv plants.
In 2012 I joined global solar EPC business Solaer in their EMEA business Padero Solaer, then moved into Maypole Energy created by one of the founders of Padero Solaer, working on SA, Romanian, and UK solar groundmount utility-scale PV. We also worked on a solar-securitisation pathfinder model for each jurisdiction.
In 2013 to 2016 I worked through MBC Law Ltd, and in 2014-2015 via BCL Legal for global firm Paul Hastings leading on renewable energy matters advice for the debt finance team when called on to do so. In 2016 I brought a global listed Taiwan Stock Exchange PV Co. to Paul Hastings and worked on their legal work through MBC who seconded their services to PH.
From late 2016 to date, I served as senior legal counsel in the EMEA business for global solar company ET Solar. I worked on engineering, corporate, compliance, commercial and disputes work, with external counsel where relevant and appropriate to do so where i.e. English/Scots law do not apply. I am now on annual leave until my current contract end.
