Manitoba Camping Association

The Manitoba Camping Association is a small, 2 person, non profit organization governing organized residential camping standards in Manitoba as well as running the Sunshine Fund Program which provides supports to Manitoban families without the financial means to send their children to summer camp. 

This position was full time from the school spring break until September and reverting to part time during the off season. My main responsibilities revolved around the Sunshine Fund prior to and during the camping season and then as support to the Executive Director during the off season.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

ALL YEAR:

  • Reception: providing information to clients, camps and various organizations and companies with an interest in the MCA and Sunshine Fund.
  • Accounting: entering all accounts payable and accounts receivable, payroll, back reconciliations, preparation of financial statements and reports.

PRIOR TO AND DURING CAMPING SEASON:

  • Donor Management: assisted the executive director with the annual donation drive; data entry entering the donations into a database and maintaining the records; issuing receipts.
  • Processing Sunshine Fund Applications: Helping clients fill in the application and in providing the required supporting documentation; reviewing and qualifying/disqualifying applicants; securing camp sessions for approved clients; all communication with parents.

OFF SEASON DUTIES:

  • Prepare web site and Manitoba Camping Directory for publication for the the upcoming season.
  • Assist with yearly membership renewal.
  • Assist with accounting year-end.
  • Assist with the annual "Parade of Camps".
  • Assist with changes/improvements to the Sunshine Fund.

Lunch Program Coordinator

Fort Rouge School Parent Advisory Council

This position consisted of running a school lunch program for the families of Fort Rouge School.

Duties: 

  • Hiring and management of lunch program staff
  • Collecting fees required
  • Payroll

Reported to the Fort Rouge School Parent Advisory Council (not the school itself).

Receptionist - Office Administration - Accounting Clerk

Flair Homes (Manitoba) Ltd.

At Flair Homes I started as the Receptionist for the accounting office. After three months in this position I progressed forward and became the Office Administrator for the Executive Homes division. I did this for a year and half until a new General Manager took over to close the division down at which time while the rest of the support staff was "let go" the CEO requested I move back to the accounting office as the Accounts Receivable Clerk for the remainder of the job.

ACCOUNTING DEPARTMENT RECEPTION DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Answer the phone
  • Greet and direct home buyers for the paralegal department
  • Maintain and order office supplies
  • Manage several daily courier pick up and drop offs to various divisions and legal offices
  • Sort and distribute mail/courier items

EXECUTIVE HOMES OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Sole provider of all office support to the General Manager, Production Manager & Sales Staff
  • Reception (basically identical to above noted responsibilities)
  • Approving invoices for payment
  • Processing "Spec" Mortgages: This was the main responsibility of this position. I had to ensure all mortgages were applied for; monitor stages of construction and ordering the inspections required to request the mortgage advances.

ACCOUNTING DEPARTMENT ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE CLERK

  • Responsible for the coding of the accounts receivables for all nine divisions of the company, preparing deposits
  • Utilities accounts payable for all homes under construction, spec homes, show homes as well as the various division offices 
  • Collections and processing of refunds
