Personal Profile

I am an enthusiastic and innovative participant in the education landscape. I have been lucky enough to have experienced a wide range of cutting edge schools both in New Zealand and abroad, as a staff member, presenter and facilitator and visiting observer and have just completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Digital Technology and Collaborative Learning through the Mindlab in 2015 which led me to receiving a TeachNZ study award to begin work towards completing an MA in Applied Practice. I am stimulated by ideas about pushing the boundaries of how to constantly reform thinking about learning and creativity, and I thrive on working closely with learners to help them to achieve their goals and realise their own potential.

I have a creative approach to everything I pursue, and feel that my wide range of work and life experiences have set me up well as a learner myself.  I am  able to work well collaboratively and independently to explore current trends and reading and knowledge, and implement action research and inquiry in my own professional practise as a facilitator of education.  

I believe strongly in approaching learners holistically and as individuals in order for them to strive towards their own actualisation and experience the world and community in ways that are meaningful and relevant to them. Finally, I enjoy the challenges that mapping uncharted territory always bring, and bring with me a strong work ethic and high standards and expectations of all that I do.

I relish professional development and reading, and through this, have  in turn had many opportunities to share my thoughts, research and experiences with a wide range of colleagues through a variety of initiative development and implementation.  I feel confident investigating, co-designing, self-critiquing, engaging communities, prototyping and proposing thinking to stimulate change, learning and development.

In my various professional incarnations, problem solving and creative thinking has been one of my passions and strengths.  I enjoy the challenge of identifying issues and researching, discussing, trialling and implementing innovative solutions.  I have been fortunate to have had many experiences in this as I have spent my career so far being a member of new and developing schools and am always looking to develop my own creativity.
