After teaching music, yoga, creative movement, and relaxation at a small exercise and music studio on Haida Gwaii for a year and a half, I have spent the last three years teaching literature and writing at two universities in Vancouver, FDU and UBC, and am now becoming increasingly interested in helping my students bring out their full potential by re-connecting with their own natural creativity.

For this purpose, I integrate creative as well as interdisciplinary approaches into my courses and encourage my students to be open to their own intuition and to experiment as well as "just play around" with new ideas. What turned out to be particularly successful were collective creative projects, such as writing and performing a play or organizing an event designed to make a difference in the world (for example "Earth Day," "Cultural Sharing," "Peace Symposium and Fair").

In the future, I would like to extend my approach and go beyond the university classroom to reach other people as well -- in particular professionals but also seniors, teens, and children -- because I have found that most people feel a lot happier, healthier, and more fulfilled once they start reconnecting with their creativity, and I would like to help as many people benefit from this as I can.
