Research Student

ATG Biotech

In my tenure at ATG biotech I have been involved as a research student working concurrently in Microbiology, Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics.

My current project involves Studies on Bacillus Cereus group bacterium isolated from Indian currency note(which was in heavy public circulation) by RNA dependent RNA polymerase Beta subunit Nucleotide and Amino acid sequence analysis for molecular differentiation.

We have further plans to commercialize this research by developing a PCR kit for the  rapid detection of Bacillus Anthracis(This bacteria was used in Bioterrorism attack on US in 2001) which would allow detection of Bacillus Anthracis in a short span of 2-3 hours as opposed to 2-3 days by conventional methods.

I am also involved in training and mentoring newly admitted students in the lab in Molecular Biology & Bioinformatics.

Jun 2010 - Jul 2010

Summer Research Intern

IBI Biosolutions pvt. ltd.

During my tenure as an intern at IBI Biosolutions i was involved in " Insilico drug designing for Asthma".

We used a variety of computational methods to identify novel compounds, design compounds for selectivity, efficacy and safety which would be furthur used for designing a drug for Asthma.

Subsequently, a drug was developed having recommended parameters computationally.

Summary

Iam a recent  Bioinformatics undergraduate student(Bachelors of Technology) with akeen interest in Genomics, Molecular Biology, andEntrepreneurship in Life Sciencesarena.

Currently I work as a researcher at ATG biotech focusing on Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics.

I would love to learn & work in the exponentially  growing sub domain NEXT-GEN SEQUENCING  of bioinformatics.

Objective

Even though research is intriguing , what’s more intresting about the Research&Development aspect of life sciences is the Development part which involves creation of successful products of both economic and social value by commercializing the research carried out.

My objective is to be involved in the commercialization aspect of life sciences and translate the  research carried out  into a successful product .

5 years from now, having a general idea of the research pipeline and mastering the business aspects of Life sciences, I see myself  as a  Bio-Entrepreneur by bringing research to fruitation thus completing the development aspect of Research and development cycle.

Hobbies

I am a voracious reader surfing & learning about business, start ups and entrepreneurship.

Apart from my interests in Entrepreneurship, I Have also been involved in Learning as well as Researching on the Indian Astrology system also known as Vedic Astrology comprising of computing, analyzing and predicting events based on an Individual's horoscope(also known KUNDLI) for about 5 years.

I also practice Numerology and Tarot.
