I worked with Greg Locke for just under a year as his Supervisor at Pacific Pulmonary Services. Greg was in charge of all aspects of shipping and receiving. He regularly labeled and shipped more than 400 packages daily using various shipping companies and determined which method of shipping was most cost effective and still met customers’ time requirements. In my time working with Greg he had reduced shipping cost per package to well below the goal. He also handled any problems with individual orders by dealing direct with management at the various shipping companies. Greg also received orders into the warehouse. Using electric pallet movers and jacks, he kept inventory rotated, performed weekly inventory counts, and managed to find space to store large amounts of inventory in a not-so-large warehouse. In addition to his shipping/receiving duties, Greg helped with morale in the workplace by volunteering to cook company "BBQ" days, and played a major role in helping to generate the funds for an office-wide Holiday Party. Greg would make a fine addition to any team.

I am writing this letter of recommendation on behalf of Greg Locke. My name is Duane Angulo and I was the Director of Pharmacy at Pacific Pulmonary Services. I was the individual who interviewed and ultimately made the hiring decision to bring Greg on as the Logistics Coordinator.

As with any new hire, a candidate may look very efficient and knowledgeable on their resume, but you never really know their true ability until you work with the person. I found very early on that Greg was an individual who knows and understands the importance of the entire shipping and receiving process. During his tenure, we were able to upgrade and systemize our shipping and receiving methods. He was responsible for receiving and tracking our medication inventory, upgrading our method of building shipping boxes from a manual to a semi-automated system, and he was ultimately responsible for the entire pharmacy’s shipping and freight costs.

With any business accurate inventory tracking is a very important element of a successful business. In the pharmacy business, there is an additional importance with all the regulatory record keeping requirements. Greg fully understood the importance of timely and accurate record keeping and maintained easily retrievable files. Greg was instrumental in doing all the research when the company decided to purchase a box erector system and with his input we were able to purchase a machine which enabled the company to eliminate a full time shipping position due to Greg’s recommendations. When Greg came on board, our cost per shipment was about $12.00/shipment. With his hard work and dedication to the challenge of lowering shipping costs, the cost per shipment fell below $7.50/shipment. At the time, we were averaging about 10,000 shipments per month, so with Greg’s strong efforts we were able to lower our shipping costs by about $45,000 per month.

Greg is a dedicated and is extremely knowledgeable person and takes his work very seriously. He did a terrific job with our shipping and receiving issues and I would strongly recommend him for the position to join your organization.
