Over the years, New York City’s Gregg Mashberg has served as a leading attorney in the areas of complex commercial litigation, securities litigation and enforcement, and corporate defense, earning numerous professional distinctions along the way. Named a New York Super Lawyer each year since 2005, Gregg Mashberg is also listed in the Best Lawyers in America, holds an AV® Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell, and appears in Benchmark Litigation as a Local Litigation Star for Securities and White Collar Crime. He serves as the Co-Head of the Securities Litigation & Enforcement Group at Proskauer, focusing on defense of securities class actions, SEC investigations, and shareholder derivative actions. Among his many achievements at Proskauer, Gregg won the dismissal of a $100 million lawsuit against a major British corporation and also successfully defended the Metropolitan Transportation Authority against legal challenges to $900 million in fare and toll increases. In 1978, Gregg began a five-year tenure in the New York City Law Department, eventually being promoted to the position of Assistant Chief of the General Litigation Division. For his work at the Law Department, he received the New York City Bar Association Committee on Municipal Affairs’ Award for Excellence. He is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the U.S. Supreme Court, and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Ninth, Eight, Third, and Second Circuits. Gregg received his B.A. from Case Western Reserve University in 1973 and his J.D. from the New York University School of Law in 1978.
