Being a confident person, communicating with people comes second nature to me. I am able to speak in front of and to a number of people clearly and with confidence. As such I am able to lead and teach people well. My television journalism module has improved my interviewing skills as well as my ability to approach people for interviews.

Working in a high pressure environment and dealing with customer issues has made me a resilient person who is able to take difficult situations in my stride. Studying journalism has improved my organisational skills and as such I don't let the pressure of deadlines affect the quality of my work.

I am able to both think and write creatively in order to solve problems and express opinions. Studying journalism and English literature has equipped me with a firm grasp of the English language and how to utilise it to its fullest effect. My strengths lie in feature writing and investigative journalism as these areas allow me to write more creatively. I have also had a number of film reviews and features published on various websites.

I enjoy watching, studying and writing about films. i write film reviews and news articles of which a number have been published. I play a lot of sport including Australian rules football and boxing. Being captain of my Aussie rules team has taught me to lead well. I also like to write my own short stories.

BBC Watchdog

I was on placement with BBC Watchdog as a researcher for one month. While there my main duty was to source and research stories for the team before the programme went to air.

Researching stories involved cross referencing complaints and information off the internet with that of the Watchdog database and mail. I compiled the complaints from all three sources and investigated the complaints in depth to gather stories. Another important component to the formulation of stories was calling contributors and conducting interviews to make sure we had all of the facts right and gather any information that may not be up to date or may not have been present in the first place.

I gained experience in investigative journalism while working for Watchdog. I was tasked with investigating an estate agents in central London who were cheating their clients out of a great deal of money, closing down and reopening in the same area under a different name. I went around all of the estate agents in the area sitting down with all of the agents and discussing properties for let. From my investigations, Watchdog were able to identify the rogue estate agent and the item will feature as a main piece in one of the upcoming episodes.

I also gained some studio experience with The One Show whilst on this work placement. In order to gain some live studio experience I acted as a runner for The One Show. This role gave me an insight into what it is like to work on a live television broadcast.
