Holiday internship program working with the strategic communications department in the Merchandise Mart Chicago location. Conducted market research-specifically architecture firms nationwide-for the NeoCon World's Trade Fair 2010 (more than 700 exhibitors, more than 150 CEU-accredited seminars and association forums, keynote speakers, new products, innovative design and building resources and materials for contact furnishings) Worked to build databases of the most valuable homes in Cook County in order to target the right audience for our high-end events as well as compiling worksheets regarding our industry competitors. Updated the VIP contact list for the Art Chicago Trade Show 2010 and worked in the PR department putting together press materials for the California Gift Show in LA

Worked directly with the District and Regional Sales Coordinators to increase the number of Aflac customers around the state of Kentucky via travel and phone conferences. Attended two weeks of in class training and out of class field sales experience while also attending scheduled staff meetings and customer appointments. Made cold calls (over the phone and in person) to potential customers, scheduled appointments and assisted in product presentations. Was able to work independently and directly with companies and organizations around the state in sales.

Worked closely with the representatives to learn how to service clients and prepare investment proposals. Spent approximately five hours a week with management staff working on special projects and presented a final project at the end of the internship. Sat in on conference calls, planning sessions, staff meetings, and representative sales training weekly. Carried out various administrative tasks including filing and data entry.
