Programmer Analyst

Defense Intelligence Agency

I served as a programmer analyst with the Digital Services Team at the DIAC. I was responsible for content maintenance of sites on various military/intelligence networks. I was responsible for developing web applications, as well as integration of third party and open source tools. I was responsible for updating web sites for the agency.

Accomplishments include:

  • Implemented dynamic websites for intranet and maintained legacy web applications. 
  • Wrote PERL scripts to manage meta-information (IPTC) from JPEG files.
  • Developed content mgt. back-end, HTML-to-RSS script, and database abstraction library
  • Assisted in writing dirty-word filter for cross domain product transfer

Sr. System Engineer


UNIX Systems Administrator: for Solaris systems. Install and configure web servers. Implement and maintain enterprise PCA system patches. On-call support for critical functionality. Perform security hardening and risk mitigation in response to DISA and NGA CND scanning and verification activities. Provide hardware support for variety of Sun hardware. Maintain and monitor NAS devices, Backups, and Network Switches and Load Balancers. Maintain enterprise backup systems with Veritas NetBackup and Spectralogic devices. Migration to Sun T-series blade architecture utilizing virtualization and Sun 7210 StorEDGE Appliances.

Java and Shell Programming: Wrote code to import intelligence product information from Sybase database and export into XML format for dissemination to lower classification network(s). Wrote loader, which reads in several different intelligence product types DNI/IC compliant XML and stores them into database. Developed database served to produce web services and dynamic content as original database structure and size are not well suited to role. Wrote Enterprise-compliant Web Service using Tomcat 6/Axis 2 to search Intelligence Product holdings by geo-coordinates and other fields. Wrote Application to produce RSS 2.0 and OPML, KML, and IC-standard XML from database contents.

Accomplishments include:

  • Implemented PCA for enterprise patch management 
  • Added RSS 2.0 features to RSS Feeds, including Geo-Spatial Data
  • Implemented KML Feeds from Intelligence Products

Web Team Lead / Sr. Programmer


Microsoft .NET and ASP Programming, and Web Development: Implementation of business applications with Microsoft .NET platform to enable collection and dissemination of internal and public information. I performed Web Design and development tasks, including creating CSS Style sheets, Java Script, and Macromedia Flash/Action Script. I also perform management of SQL Server 2000 implementations, including Creating and optimizing tables, views, and stored procedures.

Microsoft SharePoint: Performed Content-Management. Performed User-Account and Access Management. Developed Web Parts for Enterprise application for managing data for Attaché’s and others with privileged access.

My position required delegating tasks, interacting with stakeholders, and leveraging organizational resources to complete tasks. I served as the team lead for DCS G-2 Web Team.

Unix Web Engineer


I maintained UNIX Hardware for Web, Database, and Directory Server systems, as well as Disk Arrays, Network Attached Storage, and Enterprise Backup systems. I developed Web Applications with Perl, Java, and PHP. I performed DBA role for multi-instance Oracle environment for Arc-SDE installation. I also provided support to Windows Active Directory installs/integration with Samba/Sun One/NFS. I also performed system/network admin functions.

Accomplishments Include:

  • Migrated NIS+ environment to LDAP Authentication with SSO access to Windows AD, profiles to limit user access to servers and workstations 
  • Implemented Oracle 9i deployment and Recovery Manager configuration 
  • Configured and Installed Solaris Cluster 3.x systems  
  • Developed policy management framework for managing IPF firewall rules and Su-Dosettings across multiple systems
  • Wrote application in C Programming Language, Shell, and Perl to perform failover and synchronization of Solaris 10 zones on multiple servers with ZFS and Containers

Web Developer


I provided content management support to the corporate website. I was engaged in a full redesign of the corporate web presence at the time I left the company. I worked on porting CD based multimedia applications to HTML & JavaScript format. I developed a contact management application using Linux/My SQL/PHP for a contract with NOAA. I provided on-site contract support for the NOAA project.

Accomplishments include:

  • Successfully ported SFA Coach web application to CD
  • Successfully implemented contact management database with PHP/My SQL
