Co-author of paper entitled “Case Study for the Implementation of an Automated Ultrasonic Technique to Detect Fatigue Cracks in Aircraft Weep Holes.”

Model of Excellence Award 1996, McDonnell Douglas Aerospace

The team developed, documented and received approval from the Federal Aviation Administration for an ultrasonic technology applied to the DC-9 Wing Box T-Cap that reduced inspection labor hours by 85–94 percent using service bulletin estimates and airline calculations. The technology also reduced inspection costs by $1 million.The award recognizes “individuals and teams who champion change for the enterprise, achieve exceptional quality improvements, and enhance Excellence in MDA products.” The Model of Excellence Award is MDA’s highest quality award.
