Master Thesis

KTH, Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden

The Task of the master thesis work was to design and deploy an open access and operator neutral network in Ventspils University College, Latvia for both wired and wireless users. The implementation included a separate Access LAN with Wireless Network, Configuration Server with MAC database created in Postgres and modified DHCP relay agent script based on Service providers DHCP server address, Default DHCP Server in the Access Network, web relay scripts with PHP and Postgres, DNS server, Secured Web Server Apache SSL, FTP Server, Four routers/Access Servers to four different providers with AAA based on MAC and IP address using OASIS, KERBEROS and IP Tables Firewall rules.

Accomplishments-
  • Successfully designed and configured the network with above mentioned components.
  • Wrote Project plan, Final Report, Installation Manual and posted the downloadable sources on the web as an open source.
  • Currently 85 MAC addresses are registered to the network and now both wired and wireless users in Ventspills have option to choose among the four ISPs connected to the network
