What I do

My business supports conversations - the conversations needed to collaborate, self organise, build relationships and make a real difference in our communities, families and organisations.

About Me

Since 2004, I have been the director of Tangent Consulting, specialising in group facilitation, facilitation training and in the design of community change programs.

In facilitation, I assist groups to be at their best and get the most from the time they have together. I work with clients who want to change from ‘business as usual’ and respond in new ways to an increasingly complex world.

I believe learning happens when it is experienced and so I bring ‘action methods’ to groups. I use ’story’ to help organisations learn from the past and co-create future goals. And I build in a transition strategy to help clients take workshop outcomes back into their own ‘world of work’.

I bring processes that shift groups from ‘debate to dialogue’ and participants from ‘attendees to active participants’. I hold spaces that allow groups of people to self-organise and take responsibility and ownership for outcomes.

In the design and implementation of community change programs, 15 years of hands-on experience and a working knowledge of human psychology allows me to bring a healthy dose of reality to any behaviour change initiative. Since 2001 I have specialised in community change programs with environmental sustainability at the core. My experience in these programs spans project management to evaluation and facilitation to project design.

I have delivered these programs with a wide range of people and groups including local and state government, non-government organisations, universities, industry and community.

Insanely Great Slideshow Presentations‘ is a 1 day, in-house training program that I deliver in collaboration with Viv McWaters. We have set ourselves a BIG audacious goal … ‘Save the World from Lousy PowerPoint Presentations!’ In this training you will learn about the latest brain research in how we think and learn. You will also learn to prepare and design Slideshows that support your story and amplify your core messages.

Prior to starting my own business, I worked for 6 years as a trainer and rehabilitation consultant in the occupational health and safety field. Prior to that I also worked as an Occupational Therapist in neurological rehabilitation and illness prevention.
