Direct business line responsibility including client program development, product development, field office communications, product quality, standards of performance and regulatory compliance in the Liability market segment. Accomplishments including:

  • Redesigned company’s Litigation Management strategy, created companywide Fraud Management strategy and co-developed Medicare Secondary Payer compliance protocols for all Sedgwick clients.
  • Developed new liability service offerings for client programs (Emergency Response Service, Liability Nurse Consultant, Products Recall Solution, Nurse Practitioner, Apology Programs and Elder Care Claims Handling).
  • Identified and implemented operational efficiencies across client base and enhanced data metrics for measuring operational performance.

Legion Insurance Company (In Liquidation)

Led claims organization in a liquidation environment. Responsibilities included management and issuance of over 15,000 claims and 13,000 Proof of Claims (“POCs”) arising from personal and commercial lines of business.

  • Developed the Claims Department’s long term strategic plan for the liquidation of the Estate’s assets including the Estate’s outsourcing strategy for Claims.
  • Reorganized department structure to maximize efficiencies and colleague skill sets resulting in the creation of specialty claim units (Construction Defect, Lead, and Long Term Exposure) as well as a Reinsurance support and Estate compliance unit.
  • Created new processes to insure reserving adequacy, metrics to measure progress in achieving liquidation objectives, and reporting tools to provide transparency to various departments and the Estate.

Developed and led a national advisory practice with a world-class financial services firm engaged in delivering best-in-class claims consulting services to the market.

  • Demonstrated customer-centric approach in providing consistent quality performance to industry leading clients.
  • Designed quality assurance programs to benchmark claim office and TPA operational performance; created claims/TPA scorecard to enhanced performance metrics, and claim financial reporting framework for a global insurance carrier.
  • Co-designed litigation strategy for the claim damages component of a litigated dispute between insurers; project managed the compilation of claims data including evaluating performance measurement, claims benchmarking and leakage estimation.

American International Group (AIG)

Distinguished career with a global insurance enterprise marked by consistent performance-based promotion through senior-level positions at the Unit, Departmental and Divisional levels. Highlights of career path, cross-functional accountabilities, and significant achievements include:

VP – EXCESS CASUALTY (1999 to 2002)

Managed a $45 million operating unit within a multi-million dollar Excess Casualty Underwriting Department. Held P&L accountability for all aspects of operations, led business development and marketing activities, provided technical, managerial and legal oversight for the primary product offering (Casualty Loss Mitigation insurance); planned, structured, and negotiated high-dollar, complex transactions involving substantial risk in a strictly defined, highly specialized area of insurance.

Succeeded in converting a concept into a viable insurance product by offering an innovative business “solutions”. Wrote $65+ million in gross premium revenues within two years of rollout. Credited with ranking AIG as the global industry leader in the casualty loss mitigation market.


Wrote $12 million in new and renewal premium business, achieved and maintained 98% renewal retention ratio and 76% quote-to-bind ratio.

Successfully marketed a 3-year, $30 million Workers’ Compensation facultative reinsurance program and administered a $10 million excess Workers’ Compensation book of business.

AVP – MARKETING (1997 to 1998)

Developed and executed business development campaigns, targeted primary accounts, developed/expanded product distribution channels, and built, strengthened and protected critical relationships with the broker network and insureds.


Directed all technical and business operations, held settlement authority of $1 million, led a team of four professional Claims Directors, and served as an internal business consultant and subject matter expert on large loss casualty claim issues.


Promoted into a highly visible management position responsible for a team of 18 professionals.

Identified $18 million in reinsurance recoveries; closed 400+ reinsurance claims without pay.


Volunteered to drive AIG’s focus on knowledge management and deliver a set of value-based best practices.

Developed and implemented a set of training programs for the existing staff (80+) and all new hires.


Reduced reliance on outside counsel resulting in a $21 million cost savings over a three-year period.

Consolidated 10 field offices to achieve economies of scale in efficiency, productivity, accuracy, consistency and cost.
