I was hired to reinvigorate the AHS’ legacy of innovation and the community support, as well as improve the organizational culture.  Cultivated relationships with community leaders, foundations, municipalities and other animal welfare organizations. Oversaw. strategic planning, program development and fundraising, as well as management of a $13 million budget and 192 employees.

Key Accomplishments

  • Increased the live release of animals year-over-year through process improvement and incorporating innovative methods and programs like; off-site retail/adoption centers at high-end retail locations , veterinarian clinic services for low income pet owners, steam cleaning kennels vs. chemical use, and behavior and spay/neuter programs.
  • Initiated the expansion of thrift store operations growing revenues from $193K to $1MM annually mitigating the reliance on estate gifts to cover operational expenses.
  • Initiated a collaborative planning process with other animal welfare organizations that resulted in multi-million dollar funding for the expansion of programs which became the "Fix-Adopt-Save" program.
  • Increased employee retention.  Reduced turnover by 50%  by changing the culture to one of participation, accountability, ownership, and by providing training that supported employee’s growth.

United Cerebral Palsy of Central Arizona

Brought in to turnaround an organization that was failing financially, and in fulfilling its mission. Handled all aspects of strategic planning, program and fundraising development, as well as P&L management and expansion of services. Collaborated and cultivated relationships with community leaders, government agencies and other community providers that resulted in annual revenue growth from $750,000 to $9.5 million. Led a $6 million capital campaign and secured $3 million in bond funding for construction.

Key Accomplishment:

  • Raised over $25M in 17 years at UCP by effectively working with community leaders, the Board of Directors and staff in communicating the organization's vision and by creating collateral materials that conveyed the compelling case statement for support.
  • Increased Circle K's annual support from $150,000 to over $2.3 million by establishing a strong relationship with the Regional Vice President and by motivating employees at all levels regarding the impact their efforts had in the community.
  • Improved agency's finances from a $250,000 debt to an $8.4 million managed portfolio through the expansion of profitable business sectors and by developing and increasing outside corporate support from a variety of corporations and foundations like; Wal-Mart, APS, Circle K, Schaller Anderson, Harkins Theatres, The Virginia Piper Charitable Trust and Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust.

Executive Director

Handled all Chapter operations in Arizona including developing special events and corporate sponsorships, preparing and monitoring budgets, reporting to the Board of Directors, and making public presentations.

Key Accomplishments:

  • Increased revenues by 175% with an innovative sports sponsorship program.
  • Managed and coordinated a five member staff and event budgets in excess of $500,000.
  • Expanded resources into the high-tech and airline industries with $50,000 worth of sponsorship.
  • Turned around the local Chapter's "Great Strides", a national walk, from loosing $10,000 in the first year to netting over $25,000 in the second year and $50,000 in year three.

Quality Incorporated

Managed all aspects of personnel development, budgeting, P&L, management of a medical staff, and marketing cost containment programs to the insurance industry.

Key Accomplishments:

  • Opened and developed Hartford and Phoenix regional offices into viable and profitable centers within the first year of operation.
  • Developed specialized medical review program that contributed 31% savings to insurance carriers.
  • Developed a nine state regional territory into the third highest revenue generating office. I was responsible for: selling audit services to insurance companies, hiring RN's, training staff, P&L, and reporting to the President.

Owens Illinois/Libbey Glass Division

Responsible for securing and increasing glassware sales through distributors and direct accounts in the retail and foodservice industries.

Key Accomplishments:

  • Increased sales 54% and exceeded quota by 18% on volume of $3.6 million.
  • Designed a P.O.S. promotion with Pepsi-Cola and the Southwest Conference, increasing sales and generating $10,000 in royalty fees for each SWC university.
  • Awarded Sales Leader status in 1984, and twice achieved "Quota Buster".
