I began attending Jones part time in 2009 and was accepted into the Associate Degree Nursing Program which I began in August 2011. While attending Jones, I was selected as "Student Nurse of the Year" in 2012, "Who's Who Among American Colleges and Universities", and nominated for the "Higher Education Appreciation Day/ Working for Academic Excellence Award", as well as for a "Gold Key Leadership Award". The nominations for these awards were made by the Nursing Faculty which was a great honor.
Graduated with honors in top 20 of 200 (+) students.
I currently work as a Registered Nurse on a postpartum unit. I provide care to couplets (mother and newborn), antepartum patients who are experiencing difficulties during pregnancy, and to recovering gynecological surgery patients. Assessment, medication administration, electronic documentation, and patient advocate are only a few of the job responsibilities in this area. Nurses on this unit provide patient education regarding such things as breastfeeding, birth control, prevention of sexually transmitted diseases, newborn care, and immunizations. I am also oriented to and take patients on Pediatrics and in NICU Intermediate Nursery.
I am responsible for Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Payroll in this family owned business. I have 20 years experience using Quickbooks to prepare reports and process payments for Sales Tax, Use Tax, and Witholding Tax. I act as Benefits Manager and prepare information for Insurance Audits.
I worked with Home Party Hosts to share the collections twice a year, once for Spring and once for Fall. I tried to establish a rapport with customers and to know what they preferred for their children. I practiced "suggestive selling", hoping to add to sales by making sure customers are aware of coordinating pieces. I also tried to provide excellent customer service after the sale. I was consistently in the top five of Sales Consultants in the United States, finishing in first place both in Fall of 2008 and Spring of 2009.
The Postmaster Relief position was a part time position. My main duties were "breaking down" the mail in the morning and sorting to the correct route for the carrier. Also, I delivered to the post office mail boxes. These tasks required a strong memory. I also worked the desk in the Postmaster's absence, selling stamps and assisting customers with mailing packages.
I was trained as a chairside orthodontic assistant, assisting the doctor with all aspects of patient care. I received certification in dental radiology. Also, I poured impressions for study models and retainers and did other lab work. My experience also involved working the reception desk, assisting patients with scheduling and payments, and typing referral and other letters.
I worked as a busgirl, waitress, and cashier part time while in High School.
I am a hardworking, dependable, and organized person. I have been blessed with good health, a wonderful, supportive husband, and two sons, ages 18 and 15. Through my years of work experience, I have gained knowledge in different fields, and believe that I can be a valuable asset.
I am an active member of Summerland Baptist Church. I enjoy camping, gardening, and attending my sons' sports activities.
