Before beginning a career in healthcare and pharmaceutical finance, Dr. Gbola Amusa earned a BSE in biomedical engineering from Duke University, followed by an MD from Washington University School of Medicine. After completing his medical studies, he attended the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and graduated first in his class with an MBA in finance, economics, strategy and entrepreneurship. At the beginning of his career, Dr. Gbola Amusa served as an associate in the Healthcare Group of the Goldman, Sachs & Co. Investment Banking Division, before joining Sanford C. Berstein & Co., where he became the first associate research analyst to earn promotion to senior research analyst in less than a year.
Subsequent to a term as a senior managing director at UBS AG, Gbolahan Amusa, MD, utilized more than 10 years experience in the investments industry as an independent healthcare finance and strategy advisor. As a consultant for an American personalized genomics health startup, he designed a plan that tripled the company's valuation in negotiations with venture capitalists. Besides consulting for private healthcare companies, Dr. Gbola Amusa has rendered pro bono services for non-governmental organizations and think tanks, and assisted Raxa.com in the provision of free healthcare IT tools for underserved communities in India.
