A solo practitioner since 1990, Attorney Gary Merenstein is experienced in a broad range of legal areas concerning some of the most vulnerable people in society. Passionate about protecting consumers, Gary Merenstein takes on unpopular causes pertaining to truth in lending, breach of warranty, unfair trade practices, foreclosure, and auto repossession. With his experience and knowledge of tax law, Gary Merenstein has represented tax payers facing the inherently intimidating adverse actions by the Internal Revenue Service, an agency of the United States government itself. Gary Merenstein’s work on the landmark Flood v. Mercantile Adjustment Bureau case led to the establishment of the “least sophisticated consumer” standard in Colorado. Additionally, Gary Merenstein was integral to establishing the legal compliance standard regarding the language allowed in the initial validation notices that debt collectors send to consumers that must be complied with under the Colorado Fair Debt Collection Practices Act due to the Colorado Supreme Court decision in the Flood case. Gary Merenstein laid the foundation for his professional success as an undergraduate at the University of Colorado, where he first demonstrated the tenacity that would come to be a hallmark of his future career. Upon graduating with his Bachelor of Arts in American Studies, Gary Merenstein began his law studies at the Stetson University College of Law, from which he obtained his Juris Doctor. Dedicated to furthering his education, Gary Merenstein applied and was accepted to the University of Florida Levin College of Law.
