A longtime resident of New York, Gary D. Herwitz attended college at Syracuse University, where he developed a fundamental understanding of transportation distribution management, finance, and accounting. Graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Transportation and Distribution Management in 1977, Gary D. Herwitz relocated to New York City and began a lengthy career at Mahoney Cohen & Company, one of the top-ranked accounting and professional services firms in the country. Promoted to President of Mahoney Cohen & Company in 1997, Gary D. Herwitz would spend the next eight years in this capacity, expanding his company’s consulting practice and accounting and tax services. Aside from his work responsibilities, Gary D. Herwitz has been an active participant in such charitable groups as Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City and the Organization of Rehabilitation Therapy and served on the Syracuse University School of Management Accounting Advisory Board.
CoMetrics Partners, a company for which Gary Herwitz is the founder and a managing partner, assisted in Iconix Brand Group's acquisition of Ecko Unltd. and Cut & Sew. Iconix held controlling interest in the two companies, and now it has purchased the remaining 49 percent.Because Iconix Brand Group is the owner and licensee of popular brands such as Ed Hardy, London Fog, and Ocean Pacific, Ecko Unltd. and Marc Ecko's Cut & Sew items are suitable additions to its portfolio. Ecko Unltd. collections are sold throughout the world in more than 5,000 stores. The Cut & Sew line, established in 2004, offers classic tailored apparel with a modern twist.Gary Herwitz offers four distinct services to his clientele.
