West of Scotland Reporter

I was a writer and editor of this student-run sports news website since its launch in November 2014. Much of this work was done so in collaboration with other university students as part of my portfolio module.

The body of work I have produced covers various types of content such as interviews, match previews/reports and opinion pieces. Furthermore, it contains multimedia content through video packages and podcasts.

I have contributed to the website by editing the articles for some of the website's other writing staff according to university house style.

My WSR portfolio can be located at

Broadcast Journalism Training Council Accreditation - TV Production

The work I created here helped to award the UWS' BA Sports Journalism course official accreditation from the Broadcast Journalism Training Council. This work was done in collaboration with a number of other students on both the BA Sports Journalism course as well as others from the university's BA Broadcast Production course. An example of this work can be found at

High attention to detail.
I strive to take on any task I am issued with an incredibly high level of care and attention to detail. I firmly believe that taking the time to think of various scenarios and all possible problems is always beneficial in the long run.
Strong communication.
Being able to coherently communicate with both clients and fellow staff members is a trait that I definitely feel I possess. Which in a fast-paced production environment is absolutely crucial.
I pride myself in being able to efficiently organise my workload appropriately to help maximise my potential output. This may involve delegating tasks to certain times or prioritising one task over another for a certain period etc.
Computer literate.
As a trainee journalist I have vast experience with a wide range of multimedia software such as Final Cut, Adobe Audition and Audacity. Furthermore, I am confident in being able to quickly learn the systems of any new software that I may be asked to utilise.

  • I partake in a wide range of both physical and sporting activities for fitness purposes as well as personal enjoyment such as playing 5-a-side football.
  • I often socialise with friends at both social gatherings and when I attend various other events such as sporting events.
  • The tasks and challenges I have faced whilst on my course, such as having to work with multiple teams simultaneously to strict deadlines, have stronger helped me developed my aforementioned skills and abilities to an even greater degree.
