Freelance Artist
I am currently working as a freelance comic book penciller and inker. Starting out in small press horror, I quickly graduated to doing sci-fi and superhero shorts, as well as longer one-shots in various genres. I'm currently focussed on Unthank Comics, a new Glaswegian independent label, where I will be working on a number of projects including the forthcoming books Freak Out Squares, Outgroup, and my first book as writer and artist, Gonzo Cosmic. I also exhibit work, and I am working on my first solo exhibition at the Virginia Gallery, which opens mid-November. Rotarot is a brand new version of the major arcana of the tarot, taking an autobiographical approach while updating the cards for the modern world.

Freelance Workshop Facilitator

Last summer I ran two classes, one for adults and one for young people, called 'Introduction to Comic Book Art' for the Whiteinch Centre. These classes covered the basics of comic art, including developing a character, basic story outlines and final pages. This year I have continued my association with Whiteinch by running my own classes in their Centre; these ones are evening classes for adults, and are far more in-depth. I have run a ten-week course attended by 15 adults, where we covered all the aspects of how to produce and self-publish a comic book, a 4-week masterclass where we went into detail on topics like anatomy and perspective. I aim to ensure that the workshops are open and available to all, regardless of experience, skill or economic situation. I also ensure that participants gain more than simply art skills throughout the course, and work to try and help them to overcome barriers such as lack of confidence.

Artistic Director

Cosmic Designs
I run and chair the board of this social enterprise organisation. We have worked with a number of partners, including the Whiteinch Centre, 1 in 100 Drama Company, Make It Glasgow and Glasgay! Festival providing community arts visual workshops to a variety of participants including adults with learning disabilities, young people and LGBT participants. We run workshops in a number of exciting specialisms including comic book publishing, design, animation and film. Workshops that we run can be skill-based or community-based, with a focus on self-esteem, empowerment and social inclusion. I have also curated exhibitions and events involving community participants working with emerging and professional artists. I've worked in partnership with producers of large-scale cultural events, and carried out marketing and evaluation of projects and events.

Community Arts Co-ordinator

Cumbernauld Theatre
I worked as a co-ordinator within the Theatre, responsible for the administration and management of the community arts programme. I worked on outreach development, assessing current local provision and tying that into the Theatre's main objectives, as well as acting as a partnership liaison with touring companies. I also worked on a number of large scale projects, most notably the recent community play, where I took the role of participation manager, delivering workshops on model making and stage management with people of all ages and backgrounds.
Dec 2009 - Mar 2010

Grant Officer

Big Lottery Fund
I assessed grant applications from voluntary and community organisations and charities. I ensured applications met the ethos of Big Lottery and the expected stakeholder outcomes and managed the grant process post-award, ensuring grants were spent appropriately and adequate evidence was obtained. I also carried out administration of case files and workload, including evidence gathering, as well as compliance with government legislation and internal processes and procedures.

Personal Adviser

Reed in Partnership
Worked as a Personal Adviser on this Government Welfare to Work contract, helping long term unemployed people get back in to the job market. This involved overcoming barriers such as lack of experience and skills, lack of CV building or interview techniques, and overcoming self esteem, addiction, disability and homeless issues.
