Procurement of consumer-good chemicals and ingredients (for personal products and laundry products) that involved:

  • Managing annual spend of approximately US $ 120 MN.
  • Daily coordination 100+ suppliers (locally and internationally) to meet contractual agreement.
  • Relationship management with existing suppliers and new strategic supplier development to optimize cost and for new product innovation.
  • Identify bottlenecks and lead process improvement projects.
  • Implement strategic global cost saving and category management projects to improve working capital.
  • Manage different stakeholders (Marketing, Brand, R&D) to launch new innovative products on time.
  • Forecasting, planning (weekly, quarterly, semiannually and annually) and sourcing of 324 chemicals (functional and specialty chemicals).
  • Maintaining optimum inventory of raw materials across 33 factories and 4 warehouses in India.
  • MM liaison point for effective optimization of the ERP system (SAP).

 Operations and Cost Savings

  • Reduced inventory holding period by 4 days (10%) resulting in saving of US $120K
  •  Delivered US $ 1.6 Mn cost saving by developing alternate raw materials, vendors and through process improvement.


  • Initiated significant changes in packing process to reduce incoming rejection by 26% 
  • Achieved 100 % On Time in Full (OTIF) compliance against a KPI of 95 % with respect to innovation projects


  • RSPO Compliance (a WWF Initiative to reduce deforestation of palm oil trees): Ensured 100 % suppliers are compliant with RSPO Membership by 2012 against organizational target of 2013

Operations and Cost Savings

  • Delivered saving of US $6 MN by building long term relationship with strategic base oil suppliers 


  • Led the innovation project of reduction in transit losses. Subsequently identified and implemented several changes in the design of dedicated tanker fleet yielding a reduction of transit losses by 64 % and saving of US$ 300K


  • Reduced CO2 emission by 56% for inbound tankers, by optimizing tanker fleet capacity.
