  • Design and implement channel strategy to transform Philips business model from a product company to a solution driven company.

Responsibilities

Procurement of consumer-good chemicals and ingredients (for personal products and laundry products) that involved:

  • Managing annual spend of approximately US $ 120 MN.
  • Daily coordination 100+ suppliers (locally and internationally) to meet contractual agreement.
  • Relationship management with existing suppliers and new strategic supplier development to optimize cost and for new product innovation.
  • Identify bottlenecks and lead process improvement projects.
  • Implement strategic global cost saving and category management projects to improve working capital.
  • Manage different stakeholders (Marketing, Brand, R&D) to launch new innovative products on time.
  • Forecasting, planning (weekly, quarterly, semiannually and annually) and sourcing of 324 chemicals (functional and specialty chemicals).
  • Maintaining optimum inventory of raw materials across 33 factories and 4 warehouses in India.
  • MM liaison point for effective optimization of the ERP system (SAP).

Achievements

Special appreciation

  • Special appreciation from Senior Management for leading the chemical procurement team in the biggest manufacturing project, contributing to increase of 46% YTD sale growth in Personal Care.

 Operations and Cost Savings

  • Reduced inventory holding period by 4 days (10%) resulting in saving of US $120K
  •  Delivered US $ 1.6 Mn cost saving by developing alternate raw materials, vendors and through process improvement.

Innovation

  • Initiated significant changes in packing process to reduce incoming rejection by 26% 
  • Achieved 100 % On Time in Full (OTIF) compliance against a KPI of 95 % with respect to innovation projects

 Sustainability 

  • RSPO Compliance (a WWF Initiative to reduce deforestation of palm oil trees): Ensured 100 % suppliers are compliant with RSPO Membership by 2012 against organizational target of 2013

Responsibilities

  •  Overseeing procurement of US$ 63 Mn including base oil and packing Material
  •  Functional lead for MM module during SAP implementation.
  •  Negotiating, forecasting and planning for annual requirement of base oils by dealing with international oil major companies
  • Launching RFQs/RFPs, obtaining bids, reviewing techno-commercial comparisons and finalize contracts
  • Maintaining optimum inventory (30 days) of base oils across four manufacturing locations and central warehouse
  • Managing and optimizing inbound logistics across 4 plants for base oils.
  •  Preparing and managing Agreement/ Contract for local and imported purchases and for indirect services (freight forwarders , surveyors , tank farm owners , Clearing and forwarding agents)
  •  Implementing Statutory/ legal, Health & Safety (OHSAS 18001), Environment (ISO 14001) and Quality (ISO TS 16949) standard requirements and complied with all procedures and work instructions

  • Received special appreciation letter from the CEO for outstanding contribution to operational excellence. 

Operations and Cost Savings

  • Delivered saving of US $6 MN by building long term relationship with strategic base oil suppliers 

Innovation

  • Led the innovation project of reduction in transit losses. Subsequently identified and implemented several changes in the design of dedicated tanker fleet yielding a reduction of transit losses by 64 % and saving of US$ 300K

Sustainability

  • Reduced CO2 emission by 56% for inbound tankers, by optimizing tanker fleet capacity.
