Campus Minister/Youth & Young Adult Director

Coalition for Christian Outreach

I worked as a campus minister on the Gettysburg campus of Harrisburg Area Community College half time. The other half time, I worked at Lower Marsh Creek Presbyterian Church, which was in partnership with CCO, as the Youth & Young Adult Director.

Welcome to my profile. I am a graduate student of Eastern University in St. Davids, Pennsylvania in the Urban Studies program. I am concentrating on Arts in Transformation, which is the study of the power of the arts to transform a person, organization, community, or society.

Educational Goals

It's taken a lot for me to even reach graduate school. I'm really excited about finishing school with a degree and a better knowledge of a topic I really didn't know much about before I started. My original plan for a thesis was to research intentional faith based communities to observe how they utilize the arts in their interaction with the community. Currently, I'm leaning more towards a social marketing campaign involving print media on the importance of seeking peace rather than violence as a method of conflict resolution. I work for an organization which has a program, called Agape-Satyagraha, for high school students to envelope peace making practices.

Professional Goals

I have an educational background in graphic design and the arts and a professional background in ministry. My goal is to find a way to bring these two experiences together through this graduate program. I plan on working in the non-profit sector, but the for profit sector is appealing as well, since I am also a crafter. Essentially, I don't have an exact plan, but I know that my passion is for art and caring for people, so anyway I'm able to both, I will be successful.

Activity Involvement

In recent years, I have been a part of three different Christian intentional communities. Currently, I'm living at the Sycamore HouseĀ  and involved in multiple activities in the community. I volunteer 2 hours a week at a local farm, which is part of the community supported agriculture movement. The goal of the farm is to provide near organic, fresh, and affordable vegetables for low-income families in the city.

I've also been involved in various community art activities, such as murals, classes, and using my design skills for various other community activities.

I'm also involved in various spiritual and church activities.
