I, myself, Cindy Tan, who is one of the many students that is currently studying in Ngee Ann Polytechnic, School of Humanities. The diploma that I am in now in Child Psychology & Early Education (CPEE) which is a new course offered to mainly students who took their 'O' Levels examinations in the year 2009. Thus, I am one of the students for their pioneer batch. It is also one of the few double diploma courses that is being offered by polytechnics.
Though my previous Co-Curriculum Activity (CCA) in my sceondary school was Chinese Orchestra, I joined the Moppets' Club in my polytechnic which is only open to students from my course, CPEE and also those from the diploma, Early Childhood Education (ECH). In this CCA, we not only learn how to manipulate with the puppets but also changing our voice to suit the different puppets. Moppets' Club members also have the chance to act with the help of the puppets and also act out drama scripts which were to be performed at children homes for the children staying there to learn about certain topics and moral values. This includes 'Emotional Management', 'Choices and Consequences' and many more.
I hope that all that the paths and choices I had chosen and will be choosing will be able to benefit not only children but also people in our society, teenagers, working & non-working adults, elderly and many more. I want to impact them positively in their lives, it may not need to be big and made known to everyone, it can be small things that I do which make their current and future situation to be a better one. I understand that this will mean that I need to put in more effort and gain as many experience as I can in each and every sector concerned. This is where I can get to learn more about what I can really help and also facts and reality of life. This is why most of the time I feel that reading up books is not enough, because we need to go and feel, touch, sense the experience on ourselves with the different opportunities that are being offered.
